My fellow Gaiscioch members who were there from the beginning know where this guild was grounded from.  I grew up along those founding members on my nightshade Errith on the little ol' Nimue server.  I've spent a lot of time over the past two years trying to recapture the magic that DAOC brought to me, but I kept coming back to the game time and time again.  I finally decided to go with a game with some PVE polish, just in case I ever got bored with PVP.  In this effort, I found Rift and instantly signed up for Beta.  Fast forward, and the only thing of interest in Rift for me these days is the PVE.  I dabbled in GW2, but it didn't satisfy my fix.  I have been contemplating possibly resubbing to DAOC, but there's a part of me that dreads what's become of the community there. I contemplated just hanging up the ol' MMO hat and moving on to something else.

Until today.  I saw Mark Jacobs' name pop up a while ago.  He was Mythic's co-founder, and the key figure in making DAOC.  We can thank him for a lot about that game.  Umm, there's some blame to go around too.  And then there was WAR, which broke a lot of hearts.  Coincidentally, I somehow watched 90 minutes of the MMOFTW webcast this past week.  They said Mr. Jacobs is starting a new MMO.  It sounds like an attempt to recapture some of the best aspects of DAOC.  It's very early in the concept stages, but there is a Kickstarter campaign about to begin.  I'm asking anyone in this guild who feels like me and wants a DAOC-like PVP game without having to resub to DAOC to take a look at the site, look at the principles behind the game, and then let everyone else know.

If we get the game we've been looking for, it will save us some time trying out the PVE-heavy, PVP-lite pretenders.

Fo4 a gam3 to be a official branch of our house it needs to have pvp and pve. Sadly camelot 2 doesnt have pve and therefor will not be considered as a potential branch. Now if we have enough interest and some veteran members that want to form a saighd3ar in cu then thats something we can look at.

IMO its a "wait and see". Even Firefall, which was a Tribes PVP map clone, decided to put in PVE content because they felt it would be much more successful for them. They were correct.

I'm watching it with curiosity at the moment. I like Mark Jacobs and I believe in a lot of what he wants to achieve for a pure RvR game. He is planning to deliver 3RvR, housing and crafting that all takes place in open world, it has promise, but like Fog said, our family direction is not going in the same direction as DAOC2. This is one title that I could find a home for myself in, but it would be as Saighdear or by myself without PvE content. I also plan on playing Pathfinder Online (I backed over $350 in kickstarter) but I don't think it would suit the family either. I will support any sandbox fantasy MMO if it grabs my attention, I prefer sandbox games over themepark games and I think ESO is going to be one of the last true themepark MMos. The future is a revival of sandboxes, EQNext, Pathfinder Online, Archeage and Camelot Unchained all offering either true sandbox or a hybrid of the two.

I've been looking heavily at Elder Scrolls Online, participating in their forums, and eagerly watching all their podcasts. It looks like it's borrowing *very heavily* from DAoC: Faction-locked starter areas (in other words, the Aldmeri Dominion can't invade Skyrim and start farming newbies), a large, central continent for open PvP, and three factions to fight it out. Early on, there will be some limited class options (I think it's basically 4 classes per faction), but that's just based on what's been publically released so far... it may end up somewhat DAoC like in that the classes may have sub-specializations that end up being the actual class. Seriously, though, I'm finding it difficult to see anything I don't like about this game. I love the Elder Scrolls lore, I love the three kingdom RvR setup, and I love games that don't make PvE or PvP an afterthought, but instead try to find a balance between the two. I also like the fact that you're fighting over something tangible... control of Cyrodil... which adds a lot more meaning to the PvP than simply fighting for points or PvP gear. All in all, I really see TESO as the spiritual successor to DAoC. It's not Camelot without the awesome RvR, obviously, but it's also not Camelot without the PvE. Then again, I think I'm part of the minority that actually enjoyed Trials of Atlantis...
