Okay, so Hobnanigans is a regular event. It's sort of like a team field hockey game, with chickens and sticks. The goal is to kick a chicken through an opposing goal before the other team.
The event has several rewards, including costmetics, pets, and housing decorations. The one I found interesting with deciding to check it out was cooking, though.
The cooking rewards I was looking at: 5% bonus experience food, 25% crafting experience food, 25% reputation gain by kills food.
These require apprentice cooking. They are single use, and each game will give a participant either half a recipe cost (losing) or 1.5 times the recipe cost (winning). I did not check binding on the tokens or the recipes. These recipes require the Hobnanigans campfire.
If people are interested in doing a little playing of chicken field hockey every now and then, it is feasible to gather some food bonuses for people to progress with.
Finally, there is a way to do this with less than 6 people (up to 12 people on the bigger fields is possible). That is to get the quest to join on a field, pick up a stick, wait for the time to run down on the 5 minute 'playing' buff, and then cancel the quest and pick up the opposite team quest. This means that a player can win solo games (a game takes 10 minutes when it starts) if they are willing to spend the 35 minutes to do so... but it would only really be effective with at least 3 people. This allows any group size up to 12 to play games together.
