Jeold,
The Issue: I think a lot of your concerns are exactly why we are doing what we're doing. We came to Guild Wars 2 after spending countless hours discussing an alliance system that was supposed to be introduced shortly after launch with ArenaNet. I personally traveled to Seattle, WA and spent several hours discussing this system with them outlining what it needed to be successful. Well here we are at year 1 and we have yet to even see a hint that it is actually on it's way. Right now we have 825 active players of GW2 in the past 45 days. Guilds in Guild Wars 2 are capped at 500. Which means we can't fit all 825 of us into 1 room. When we launched into Guild Wars 2 we have 1300+ active members.
This resulted in us creating multiple guilds or rooms so that we could house everyone under the concept that alliances would make their way into game and allow us to bridge the communication gap that would form with us having 3 separate guilds. Well they never came, so we came up with the concept of Specialty Rooms that would have a 7 day inactivity policy. With a 7 day policy we managed to get the most active members of the family into Anu and Rall but alas that just added more confusion and more heartache. People didn't know who to rep and when and it all became a big mess anyways.
Now that population has thinned out to the point we can all fit in 2 Base Rooms (Gaiscioch and Gaiscioch na Morrigan) which have 45 day inactivity timers, and 1 Activities Room (Gaiscioch na Rall) which has a 7 day inactivity timer (Being secretly adjusted to a longer period of time based around how many members are in the room for a given window. ATM I have it set to 14 days). Now that I'm able to get the mass majority of you all into 1 room together we are trying to get everyone to represent Gaiscioch na Rall at all times so that they can communicate together and form up groups. This however requires everyone to visit the website and do something Guild Wars 2 related every 7 days for the site to update your Last Played timestamp.
There is no "Last Played" in game and no way for us to know who is playing and who is not. This is another thing we have gone blue in the face pleading to ArenaNet to add yet has not made it into game. I understand your frustration, trust me if anyone is seriously peeved here it's me. I hate the fact that we spent so much time planning an alliance system with them and they never put it in game, and that we've pleaded with them for over a year to get a "Last Login" timestamp in game yet still have not seen it added. Out of all the games Gaiscioch has existed in Guild Wars 2 by far has the worst Guild System I've ever had to use.
All timers must be based off of our site because the game does not give us any means to do so. IF at a later date this changes we can use the in game method but currently there's no possible way to do this. It's not our fault. We have gone blue in the face trying to remedy this situation.
Now that said there is a very simple way to remedy your situation. Log into the site and click "Request Reinvite". We send out invites all the time and get prompted to invite you as soon as you click it. Unless you do something GW2 related on our site we have no way of telling that you're still active in game.
Bottom Line: Log into the website and click "Request Reinvite" that will update your last played on the site and also queue you for an invite.
In the future: Ordering things from the marketplace, claiming participation in events, and leading activities will also update your Last Login timestamp for Guild Wars 2. Also clicking the "Yes, I'm still playing" button also updates your timestamp.
