-- The sibling's name was changed from the name that the game provides (Deborah) to Veronica to lend an authentic and uniqueness to my story.

The petite redhead crumpled the missive in her slender hand. Turning her head towards the messenger, she spoke in muted tones. "But they didn't find her body, she could still be alive!." The voice trembled with hope. She just had to believe that.

The messenger just spread his hands appologetically. Of course he wouldn't know, how could he. "I'm Sorry my lady, I was not told."

She sighed deeply and rose from the unadorned mahogany chair that she was seated on. "Yes of course. Thank you for delivering this." The smartly attired messenger bowed deeply and then took his leave.

Avarycce had spent all of her life following the teachings Dwayna, goddess of healing, air, and life. Having spent all of her time and effort into being a healer and the one person who most likely needed it the most was lost to her. At least their parentswould not be beside themselves with worry about their most daring and headstrong daughter. Both their parents were no longer among the living. Poor Veronica, either she was with their parents or she was a centaur's slave somewhere. Either scenario was not at all appealing.

Taking a deep calming breath she went back over to the chair and matching desk. Sliding a crisp sheet of parchment over in front of her, and taking the quill from the ink well, she began to write...

============================================================================================================================================= Dear Beil Orkanson, My father, bless his soul, had told Veronica and I that should we ever be in trouble and require help, that we could always count on your family. Likewise that you could count on us to help you, should you need it. It would seem as though Veronica and I require your help, should you be willing to provide it. Just this afternoon a missive was delivered to me. Its contents stated that my sister's patrol was ambushed by centaurs, they were not able to recover Veronica's body... She may yet be alive, and I have to find her and save her. I just can't bear the thought of her suffering. I would be eternally in your debt should you agree to assist me. I am sure she would be as well. Should we come across her body or free her, I will continue to help you with anything you need. It is my belief that there is safety in numbers and knowing enough about you I am confident that we would succeed together. Should you agree to this, I shall make my way to Hoelbrak. Yours Truly, Avarycce Mizzrym ============================================================================================================================================= Avarycce affixed the parchment with a seal, pressing her family's crest into the wet wax. Summoning her housekeeper, she handed the parchment over to her. It would be delivered promptly, however in the meantime she couldn't mope. Donning her boots and taking up her jewel encrusted staff, she headed out. She would see if there were any leads to start with while she waited for Beil's response.

A loud growl escaped the lips of the large Norn figure standing surrounded by a mass of people hurrying along the crowded street. The nearby humans gave the armored figure a little wider berth as he glanced up and down the wide, paved street. "I cannot see how they stand to live in a place like this.", he grumbled as he began to navigate through the crowd. Even though he had repeated the directions twice back to the city guardsman, he was feeling a bit lost in the large city of Divinity's Reach. As he began to make his way toward the Mizzrym home he tried to remember back to the last time he had seen Avarycce... "May Dwayna bless you, Beil!" Avarycce said solemnly as she raised a tree branch skyward. The Norn youth towered over his young playmate, even though she was slightly older than him. "When we are older I will go on many exciting adventures and see many beautiful places. I will meet the most fascinating people and spread the grace of Dwayna.", she twirled in a circle and lowered the tree branch staff to point directly at Beil. "And you Beil, will be my Champion...come on, lets go and needle Chef Neria to give us some sweet rolls!". "Watch where you are going you clumsy ox or..." Beil had bumped into a large, pock faced man with hair the color of mud and looking just as clean. He scowled at the man and looked down at him, "Or....care to continue?". The man nervously licked his lips and looked around to see if any guards were near, seeing none he quietly stammered "Or you will be thought of as stupid and rude by other people.". Beil's face split with a huge toothy filled grin, which was not the least bit comforting the to the other man, "Well, apologies for my lack of attention then Sir. I would not want to be thought of as stupid and rude. Good day to you." Beil quickly spun and continued on his way, leaving behind the shocked and still someone scared human. A few minutes later Beil found himself standing outside the Mizzrym home, he knocked and introduced himself to the man that answered. "I received a letter from Avarycce Mizzrym, my name is Beil Orkanson...I've come to help her."

((older than him? meanie!!lol)) The slender redhead was bent deep in concentration over her spell books in the library when the housekeeper gently tapped upon the door. Avarycce looked up and nodded as Beil was guided into the room. Her face broke out into a huge grin as she saw him, she slid aside her tomes and stood, coming over to him and wrapping her arms around his waist in a warm hug. "Hi Beil! My its been a while" Conflicting emotions wracked through her.. Fear for her sister, relief that he had come to help, in the end she was beyond happy that he was here even though her eyes brimmed with unshed tears. She stepped back and looked up at the tall Norn Warrior. "I went and spoke with Logan Thackery, he told me that my answers will be found at Eldvin Monastery. My sister was last stationed there under Captain Tervelan. If anyone knows where she is, he will. Hopefully we will find her quickly and she will be alive and well. I just need to get my things and then we can go if you like." She moved back to her books, gathering up tomes full of useful spells. The elemental arcane knowledge hidden within the careworn covers slipped easily into her pack with a gentle thud against the desk. Her fingers lingered along the one encased with a sapphire hued cover, it had seen the most use, a small icon of a woman with large feathery wings enclosing her graced the front. Avarycce lightly touched the icon and whispered a soft prayer to the deity Dwayna before gently adding the book to the pack. She shouldered the pack, and tugged on a pair of gloves, flexing her fingers beneath them. She made her way to the entrance and took her staff from against the wall, the clear jewel set in the top sparkled in the sunlight as she stepped outside. Divinity's Reach was a bustle with activity today, along the streets vendors were hawking their wares, street rats were darting along the alleys while guards patrolled the streets keeping the populace safe from pick pockets, or other disturbances. A diminutive asura demonstrated his invention to a gathered crowd, they gasped in amazement at its performance. A breeze rustled the brightly colored pennants over head as the pair walked beneath them. Avarycce nodded greetings to people as they passed, the Norn beside her followed her when she turned onto a different street until they were passing through the magical membrane that kept the city safe from creatures such as centaurs, destroyers. It would be a bit of a journey to the Monestary, a speed spell would help, she had already prepared that one before Beil had unexpectedly shown up at her house. She was glad that he thought the issue important enough to not waste time with messengers back and forth. She cast the spell and their feet passed over the gravel road more quickly.

As the dusty, travel-worn pair arrived at Eldvin Monastery, the monks scurried out to see to their needs. The good monks carried the pairs travel packs, and issued orders for baths to be drawn. As Avarycce and Beil climbed the staircase beverages were brought for them. Across the courtyard of the Monastery, high above on the ramparts, calculating piercing eyes took in the pair. If Captain Tervelan noted a family resemblance, no recognition was displayed upon his impassive face. He issued orders to a nearby Seraph, the soldier saluted crisply and headed towards Avarycce and Beil. Avarycce sighed deeply, she had replayed this confrontation quite possibly a hundred different ways, but there were no certain outcomes. As the soldier reached them, a flurry of activity began as centaurs galloped into the courtyard. Eager to jump into the fray, Beil rushed headlong into the cluster of centaurs. Avarycce's lips quirked into a smile, having seen the Norn fight before, she knew he could be a force to be reckoned with, but she was certain he would need the healing waters that Dwayna guided her to summon. Darting after him, she began casting slippery ice upon the ground so that the centaurs hooves would find no purchase. A small rivulet of blood creased along Beil's (*snickers* receeding) hairline. Placing a replenishing geyser at his feet, she watched in amazement in a matter of seconds, the wound closed right before her eyes, leaving simply just traces of dried blood in its wake. A centaur trotted about Avarycce waving its spear menacingly. A quiet incantation quickly had a large icy boulder materializing above its head, and gravity took care of the rest. Beil pivoted nimbly upon his foot, to come finished the dazed beast off. With their numbers rapidly falling and the surprise raid failing, the centaur leader barked an order to the remaining creatures to retreat. Emerging from the gates Avarycce and Beil watched as the beasts galloped off. Captain Tervelan came out to thank the young pair, hesitating just a moment before grasping the tall Norns hand to shake it, before taking the human female's hand and shaking it in thanks. "Welcome to Eldvin Monastery. To what do we owe your timely arrival." His tone seemed almost a bit jovial. He placed his hands on his hip and watched the pair, curious as to why the two had seemingly traveled to this specific Monastery. Avarycce spoke, "A few days ago, I had been delivered a missive telling me that my sister was missing, and presumably dead." She watched his face and his body language as she spoke, trying to tell if there were any signs or clues that might help her find her sister. "My sister, was a Seraph, she had been assigned to Eldvin Monastery. Her patrol had apparently been sent out on a normal route and they had all went missing. I am here to find my sister, or at least to find out what happened. Captain Logan Thackery and I are led to believe that she might yet still be alive, and I would like to find her and I would like to discover what happened that day." The only thing that betrayed him was the tiny furrow in his brow before it relaxed and smoothed back into place. That was hardly anything to go by, he remained as impassive as ever.

With what little information Captain Trevelan offered up willingly, Avarycce and Beil set forth the next morning. Intent on learning what they could about the fate of Veronica's company, the pair retraced the patrol route that the company had last taken on that fateful day. As they approached the cleft of the steep ravine, Avarycce could feel tension curling about her muscles, apprehensive about the seemingly perfect location for a trap, she briefly wondered if her sister had felt this way too when coming here. Avarycce's emerald gaze raked over at the tall Norn, she couldn't see past the shadows his helm cast over his face, but she could see his muscled arm tensing as he gripped his sword tighter, she was sure that he thought that it was a trap as well. They could hear a sword beating away against wood, curiosity got the better of Avarycce as she quickened her pace slightly. Another Seraph from the Monestary was already there trying to lay waste some of the centaur supplies that sat stacked within the camp. All the pair could do was nod a brief greeting before a flood of centaurs cantered into the camp. Avarycce and Beil worked together in perfect harmony, adding to the man's pile of centaur corpses, by almost triple. Dropping a healing rain on the swordsmen duo, their wounds knitted closed leaving a fine pink line where a gash had been and then nothing at all. Creating slippery ice beneath the hooves of the oncoming equine bottomed creatures allowed the men to pick up and finish off the closest before getting one further away. As they moved killing the last of the creatures, Avarycce glanced at a leather tome resting on the stair of one of the shelters the centaur had erected. The men finished off the last creature and Avarycce darted over and snatched up the tome. Such a human thing had stood out to her since most centaurs were illiterate. The man thanked them, Beil thanked the man. The discussed Captain Trevelan as they left the failed trap. As Avarycce and Beil had thought, all of this was a carefully engineered trap to rid Trevelan of unwanted people poking around about Veronica's patrol's disappearance. The man had confirmed it, as well as the book Avarycce was already pouring through was confirming Trevelan's guilt. He had known that the patrol would be walking right into a trap. Surely Captain Thackery would want to know... yet would it give Captain Trevelan time to get away?
