Hi guys,
quick guide for previewing certain gears,
the bottom line comes down to converting the "item name" back to its actual "item code", which when pasted in chat, will show as if you shift + clicked on the actual item (which gives the link that people can hover over and preview)
The method I found so far is limited by the data base of item codes that exist, and whether or not the websites I use will be functionaly forever.
So here is how I do it:
1) Find the Item name you want, (lets say the greatsword "Dawn")
2) Now I head to this website: http://www.gw2spidy.com/search/ , and input the item name in the search box that is currently locatedly at the top right of the site, if the site has this item in record, you will see the item and some of its details appear, now click on the item name.
You will be lead to a new page after you click on the item name, for the case of Dawn, your URL now turns into: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/29169

As Charlatan mentioned, now when you click the item name, you can this a line of tiny text near the right that says "link in game", this gives you the code that you would had to get from the site below back then.

3) Grab the numerical number at the end of the URL ( 29169 for Dawn)
4) Head to http://streamchan.com/gw2id.html, now input the number as item ID and press submit, this will general a strand of code, in this case: [&AgHxcQAA]
5) And thats it! Paste this code in the chat channel and hit enter, you will either get the full name appear, or simply brackets with nothing in between, but eithier way, you can now preview the gears.
