Engineers are not the most popular class. Here is my current build idea for launch. FlameTank
personaly like every MMO since 1999 i`ve played i`ll have multiple toons I had two eng in warhammer not counting all my other toons but out of the 12 toons i had 6 dest 6 order , eng was still the most fun so have to make one here . However while i`ll have a engineer , i`ll also have a elementalist, a guardian, a mesmer pretty much all the classes look fun same issue i had in warhammer haha
No "sides" this time either... ;)
Thank you for the build info. Engineer is so much fun to play. Flamethower, Grenade Kit and Tool Kit I enjoy the most.
Thanks for the link, Kevorkian. I've been trying to read up as much as I can on the Engineer. I found them very fun to play in the BWE's and will be rolling one come launch - Asura most likely. Grenade kit and Flamethrower are great. I did not experiment with the Tool kit. They definitely look fun for sPVP and WvW as well. They may not be the most powerful, but they were the most fun for me.
I'm planning on rocking an engineer, too. I'll be using an Alchemy-based, bleed-focused build. It's done quite well in sPvP thus far. You can see it here: http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fcMQJAqalspiXnuSfF17IBoH5Fv8V0jHDZK/pAbB;ToAg1CpogxgjAHrPOYk+MqYWB
I was able to test Eng. a little today using the shield - which I didn't like before ('cause of the bugs) and it was actually really fun. I can see running the open fields and defending places with the shield and pistol. The knockback isn't huge - but it saved my tush several times as did the daze by throwing the shield.
I am really digging the Engineer. Although the primary weapon can be considered weak, net shot and overcharged shot have great function on the PvP field. Where the Engineer shines is with their secondary abilities. From sieging keeps to shutting down bridges, where ever there is a group of static enemies or ordnance, the Engineers grenade kit and bomb kit deal massive damage.
I have been playing around with several builds but this is what preferer so far:

The way I use this guy is to position myself either right on top of the enemies gate/beside the entrance to a tunnel and start hammering out all the bombs availableilible. For a ranged decision I pull back and lob grenades on archers or invaders on the tops of the walls or set off grenades on the hot oil traps to great effect. The only down side is that extremelyreamly powerful abilities rely on either a static target or a well placed timed shot.

Thoughts on this build? Playing around with this for my engineer. http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fcEQJAqelIqiY3zSbF17IyoHd2ECahKgffeIXpFEC;T4Ag0ynEOJdS9kyJKuMcJ4yyljLJXDCmEA
Hi Corpus,
Are you relying on your two kits + your Tools 10 trait for Swiftness?
Honestly I'd suggest focusing on Bombs, Grenades, or Turrets.
If you want to go Turrets I'd look at focusing on Inventions and Tools. Make placeable, self-reparing, extra damage dealing, longer range turrets.
For Grenades you of course want Explosives, but Firearms V would help you spread Vulnerability AOE via crits in addition to the Explosives 25 pt ability. I'm currently going with a Grenade Crit build combined with Elixers for condition stripping.

I haven't really done much with Bombs as I prefer being able to fight from range against tough mobs and in WvW, at least with my engineer, but I'm wondering if Explosives III & VIII combined with Inventions XI would be an effective AOE heal. I'm curious how effective that would be against melee types too especially with the boost to toughness.
Here's a Bomb Healer + Elixer (w/condition removal) build:

Gonna have to try that one out in sPvP tonight. See how well it can just stand it's ground while something hammers on it.

Here's a great build for a scout in WvWvW (just skills/traits, no sigils/runes):
Engineer Scout
Swiftness 100% of the time (just change kits every 6 seconds or so while running), lots of defensive choices (regeneration when using kits, many options in control to cripple/immobilize/knockdown pursuers, a burst of DOUBLE speed for 5 seconds every 40 seconds or so) more than adequate AoE damage with the flamethrower, and great support (condition removal, healing) with the elixir gun.
Really, I can't think of a better scout build for any other class. Anyone?
