I'm totally excited about this. The puzzle challenges as well are the ones I'm intrigued the most about, but it all sounds pretty awesome.

Personally.... I love the sound of ALL of them. I can already see new events on the calendar for doing these. It would also be fun to see (in the future) guild escort events which would be the opposite of the "tracking" ones. They already have these in the game as events - but to do a massive one for a guild would be nice. Escort events never seem to scale that well now - so a massive one to get a group of dignitaries across several zones would be grand. I know some people want WvWvW to be just about player against player... but I like the idea of PvE events within the realm - adds a bit of complexity to the WvWvW ... so what if there was an escort or assassination event that took place in the battlefields - where a guild could spawn a dignitary at one keep they own - and have to get him to another keep they own... the opposing forces can either try and take the other keep before he gets there - or kill him before he arrives - travelling across the entire zone would be interesting - and since it is basically a dolyak escort but with a dignitary - and getting him/her a lot farther - it is still WvWvW. But - back to what they have planned - love it and can't wait to see how we trigger these events. I never have a problem when devs add content - especially when it seems I will enjoy it all.

@Sek It almost sounds like the guild leader sets which "rank" within the guild can trigger events. Guess we need to wait and see on that. We'll also need to be sure that we are all representing the guild that triggers the event - so that it completes correctly. With three main guilds and five different houses - it could become a tad tricky.

I think the guild that kicks it off will get credit no matter what. There will be individual rewards for anyone that help complete the mission and then there are rewards just for the guild. Also, I think having a few main guilds could come in handy when organizing groups of people to take on certain tasks. Like with the Trek or Bounty challenges.

Was planning on having each branch target a different mission style out the gate. 5 mission styles 5 guilds.

@Sekkerhund - These will largely be used for organized events like the Great Tyrian Campaign. They take quite a bit of influence to be able to get up and running. It's not something you just go to a quest guy and accept. It's like a banner. You've gotta queue it then use it and you have a limited time to complete it. If I allow "Anybody" to activate it, then we risk throwing all our influence out the window. Warlords, Elders, Ceannard are the only ones that will be able to activate these and I plan on building a rotation schedule off of them.

@Fog - Well, based on what I read from the link that I provided, I was actually thinking limiting to Vet ranks and above, but due to the way you describe how they actually work... I have to agree with you. That's disappointing, and they needed to include THAT information in their official posting. I saw some potential with the information I had available, but now... meh, I just lost all interest in the feature if I can't make use of it. I think that the smaller guilds are going to get a bit upset with ArenaNet about this, too, especially if they cost so much influence to get going.

Cheer up man. We will do what we always do work with it. Remember in gw2 we dont have veteran members. We have members, warlords, elders. Thats because theres no bridge between game and site and no way to automate promotions. Its not the end of the world. These missions will be fun and a good time to be had by all. I can't tell you everything about these because im still under NDA. You will see what I mean on the 28th. Until then just relax and know that before you know, i have known, and I am already planning before they ever announce anything. As a Gaiscioch you should not worry about the road to come. Thats what were here for. It's why we build relationships with devs, why we get exclusive opportunities, why i spend so much time researching. The things the public knows and the things I know are months apart. The moment i see something coming i start planning, start getting ready for whats to come. I can't share details with everyone because a lot of these companies NDA me up and im silenced but please know that I am making sure you all are taken care of and have fun times on the road ahead.

I'm disappointed because of things that I had been planning on doing with the new system, based on the information that I have had access to. I was getting excited to be able to finally create and lead some great open world PVE content. Currently, its pretty limited, and we have enough PVE events atm, that any more would just be a repetitive chore. I'll wait a week and see if the actual system kills my plans or not.

"If you do a really big bounty hunt it will actually spread your guild across five different zones, where there is a boss in each and you have, say, 15 minutes to kill all five of them." I think this might give family members the chance for "co-lead" that have never had a chance to lead before and let those that have given some thought to leading an opportunity to get their feet wet (especially if a boss is underwater ;) ) It will take some coordination to get 5 bosses down in 5 different zones - I think it sounds like a helluva good time. I really think they put some thought into these - and with 5 guilds - even if we just do 3 guild events in a day/evening - could prove to be a fun night. I just hope influence isn't too great to be too restrictive.

Oh, it has great possibility for our massive family events, especially offers improvements to the Great Tyrian Campaign (if ArenaNet can work out the performance issues), but if it pans out like Fog explained, earlier, then the design of the system nixes what **I** wanted to do with it. You guys seem to think in terms of 100-200 people, which is understandable with 1500 members. I think in terms of 10-20. I'm an old hermit with severe social anxiety issues, so I don't do well in large crowds, I like my groups small and intimate. A 100+ player guild used to be HUGE to me, while a 1000+ member guild was like trying to imagine the edges of the universe. For you guys, 2000 members is just another game, maybe even a bit on the light side. ;) Anyway, in a nutshell: I was thinking in terms of a pseudo-dungeon 20 man raid, just in Open World versus an instanced and enclosed... well, dungeon. More detail to it, but no sense in explaining it until they patch, so I'll wait and see what they give us, then re-evaluate my plans.

Sek - I can truly understand that - really I can. I am a recluse myself. I hate going out in the real world - really I do. I find no use for most of it - working for the government for 20 years has damaged me... there are far too few "nice" people in the world that do the right thing vs. promoting an agenda that isn't "for the people" but postulating every second that it is - even though it is obvious the need of the "one" is far greater than the need for the "many". (Oh wait - just a sec, my soapbox is getting in the way.) I plan my weekly excursions out for shopping so I have it down to once a week and other than that- - take my solitary walks in the woods - and spend some time with my RL family. My family and friends (yes I have some friends - 3 of them) hate that I spend so much time alone - but I prefer it. They also hate that I will walk alone in the woods... I tell them there are at least two others always with me... Smith & Wesson - I also sleep with them ;) I prefer to duo or trio - or solo in the pixelated world. My favorite time in EQ (the original) and in WOW was running with one other person in duo mode. Most of the large scale events with the family I run without a group as I tend to wonder off and look at things - or explore - and don't want my group worrying about me. If I join a group I tell them - not to worry if my little blue dot ends up on the other side of the map - it's just my explorer's mode kicking in. If I was on Facebook - I would be totally content with 5 followers :) Let's wait and see how the new stuff pan's out. Maybe we can do some 5-10 people type stuff - randomly. I know the Bounty system they talked about seemed to be based on small to large scale. Maybe the small scale stuff - spawning one boss (or two) can be accomplished like you want - with an intimate group that gets to know one another over the weeks.

Hearing about influence cost is what sunk my battleship. I wouldn't want to eat influence just to run some silly little event. Based on what I'd read, I just had different expectations, that luckily got torpedoed before I saw it in the patch notes. I'd rather be disappointed now and get over it, than after I get all excited and get hit with the patch notes. :)

Guild Missions comes out later today and there is a guide out from GuildWars2Hub. Looks like Guild Bounty is like a treasure hunt, where the first tier is to to find two types of enemies in 15 minutes and kill something specific, and the location of the enemies can be anywhere except Orr. Tier 2 is 4 in 15 minutes, and Tier 3 is 7 in 15min. Guild Trek should be easy for people that have the entire map cleared. Guild Challenge looks like a big Event - first you have to find the location, and then do the event (defend barrels against waves of Charr, for example). Guild rush looks like fun - a race filled with multiple checkpoints, enemies & traps that you have to get at least 15 guildies through within a time limit. Oh, and the only people that count have to be transformed (chicken, bear, etc.) lol Guild Puzzle...includes both a "puzzle" that requires a lot of group coordination and a jumping challenge...best for 5 people, have to get it done within 30min. Rewards look nice...chance for everyone that completes the mission to get a precursor, commendations and two rares (possibly exotics, and I assume a pre-cursor would replace one of the rares). Commendations can be traded for exotic backpacks, ascended items, and guild banners.

Hey Fog, can you clarify what you meant by "5 mission styles 5 guilds"? Does this mean that if we aren't in all 5 GSCH branches we won't be able to earn full rewards for all the missions? I know we can participate regardless of what guild we're in, but they made it sound like we would only get the commendations (maybe other rewards as well?) if we are repping the guild that started the mission. Also, now that any NDA should be lifted, any extra info you can throw our way?

Toarr, eventually all rooms will have all unlocked. We are targeting certain types for the main rooms then certain types for each specialty room. These are not cheap. The unlock to be able to do these costs 30000 influence and 4 days build time. It costs 75000 influence to speed up that build time. For trek, challenge, puzzle, and race you have to be rank 6 in one of the trees and earn 25 merits from guild bounties. So its going to be months before we can unlock them all in every guild. What were doing is trying to get each type available as soon as possible in each room. The specialty rooms ate available to all members once they hit lorgair. By the time we unlock puzzle trek challenge or race all of you in the family now could be lorgair or higher. O ly takes a week to accomplish. Regarding nda I am still heavilly involved with arenanet behind the scenes and a lot of what I know is locked down by nda. I can only discuss whats public knowledge.

Yea, that unlock cost torpedoed what I'd wanted to do. There's just no way I can get that much influence accumulated without opening up Waelwulfas again and actively recruiting and running it. I'm just not in a good enough place right now, to do that. Even if I was, I'd be worried about that the high cost of initial purchase might not be obtainable for a while, without having a large guild. I imagine the official forums will be alight with complaints from small to medium sized guilds, about now. Oh well, it was nice to dream for a bit. >_> My only real criticism is that ArenaNet should have provided more details and information about how the system actually worked, rather than releasing a blog entry and pretty video that hyped the feature, not informed. I'm seeing that a lot of other players are like myself, who are confused and mistaken about what this new system was really going to be. Now we're disappointed, after the fact, and it could have been avoided with some initial information and details about the new system.

These are designed as something that a large group of people are required to complete. Even in testing we never completed the challenges. Time ran out before we could complete it. This is the closest thing to large scale raid you get in gw2. I like the system it just takes patience to get things unlocked. You also can only complete a certain amount of these each week per guild which is one of the bonuses of being gsch. 5 times the opportunities.

I get it now that I've seen the patch, but that information was not given to us. You may not be aware of that, since you were "in the know" at the time and understood exactly what the system was for. I just thought it was something completely different based on the limited information that ArenaNet had provided. Based on other comments I've read, I'm not the only one who thought it was more friendly to personal or small groups.

You're limited to once per week per mission tier, regardless of guild right? I mean, I can't do tier 1 guild bounty in funny i and na anu in the same week right? Ok, well I can *do* it in both guilds but I don't get any reward the 2nd time I do it even though it's another guild. I understand that researching the tech takes 30,000 influence for the first tier and then 50,000 for subsequent tiers but the missions themselves only cost 200 each to start once the tech is researched. Once the first tier of Guild Bounty Mission is unlocked (in about 52 hours right?) how will you guys be doing things from then on out? How often will Missions be launched? Will they be on the calendar or just launched if/when X number of people get together to do them? How many times a day will missions be launched? Will they be spread across different times so everybody (ok most people) can find one to participate in regardless of timezone or play schedule? I'm not looking for anything behind the scenes or hidden by an NDA, just an idea on how GSCH are going to choose to handle the content that has already been released.

Yeah, I second Pete's questions. And I wasn't talking about NDA in general, I was just referring to stuff about guild missions. Now that they are live, they can be freely talked about right? ANet has been pretty cryptic/unhelpful as far as releasing good information about a lot of the aspects of guild missions. Also, how many guilds can I be in total? I'm in funny i, na anu and na rall as well as my personal bank guild already. Am I still able to join other GSCH branches?

I believe you can be in five guilds total. Due to space restraints, we only allow each member to be in 3. (1 family room and anu and Rall. )

Ok I have run the numbers and time estimate: For us to unlock Guild Puzzles it will take: 370,000 Influence 510 Guild Merits 78 Days In EACH of the Gaiscioch Rooms if we can earn enough influence to keep these actively building at all times. If we lack influence to queue the next step it will take us longer. If we can generate more than enough influence we might be able to shave time if we use the asuran contracts effectively but the hard part is coming up with 370,000 influence. Remember 20g = 10,000 influence. IF we were to buy our way to the 370,000 influence it world cost us 740 gold per guild. To advance any of these faster than their required allotment is 75,000 influence per 25%. Your looking at 300,000 influence to complete ahead of schedule for EACH mission type. Each time we queue anything else it will set us back on the timeline. I will be building an overall plan here soon so that i can optimize this process.

Uhmm... O.O good lord, that's a lot of influence. For once, I'm actually glad that I have an inactive guild that I don't *have* to worry about getting that much influence, so my members can participate in the new Guild Events feature. I feel for a lot of guilds after seeing those numbers. Plus, your spreadsheet just shows the cost of each Event path once the prerequisite Category tier is unlocked, so there's several thousand more influence to add to that spreadsheet total for those guilds who need to build all of that. Wow. This is SOOooo not what I'd imagined it was going to be. Ok, so I am confused here. Just how many times does a guild have to "unlock" a path in order to execute its mission perks? I thought it was just a one time thing for the unlock, then each perk under that path was a cost of 200 influence to build.

Once you unlock the ability you can queue missions for 200 influence + 12 hours. They trigger either like banners or by going to special marked areas. The bounties are a hide and seek style. You trigger them and then have 15 minutes to find and kill all of the bosses. Oh and they tell you where they can be found 8n cryptic messages. They dont tell you what zone they are in. You have to use your knowledge of the land to find them.

Thanks for the info Fog. So if I understand correctly, after the initial Guild Bounty research in Na Anu and Na Rall, they won't be upgrading anything else until after the other GSCH are finished, right? So if I'm going to focus my playtime to maximize influence earned for one of the 3 guilds I'm in, I should stick to funny i for now? Also, any plans on when the first Guild Bounty missions will be taking place?

I have found a few of the npc's in different zones and will keep my eye out for more. We keep finding them during events like we found one on the tyrian adventure and then we found a marker to start something as well. When I did frostgorge the other day with jexia for harvesting we found another one. Keep your eyes and and maybe write them down?

The markers youll find are rally points for the start of trek, challenge, rush and puzzle. The bounties dont have a start point. They are riddles.

I'm working until about 1 hour after the Guild Bounty Mission event starts =( Are you planning on having other Guild Bounty Mission events or just one on Saturday morning each week? Also, which of the guilds will be triggering the Saturday morning event this week? (or are you triggering 1 from each guild?) Thanks for all the info, I know many of us are really excited about these so I really appreciate it. If I remember my email correctly there will be discussion about this at the Family Summit 6pm PST Saturday? Should we hold off on too many more questions until then?

Yea, this is a fantastic for GSCH, but I think the jury is definitely out for all the normal and smaller sized guilds. A lot of people thought, as I did, that the system would be something like TERA's guild mission boards. Its a little hard to explain if you haven't seen them, but they're solo and group missions that earn your guild stuff and give you tokens for neat rewards. We had no idea that it was going to be influence-costly campaigns, more on the scale of the Great Tyrian Adventure. I really just wish that Anet had of explained this to us better. I believe they allowed a fansite to write an article, but that's just not the right way to promote a new feature.

@sek, honestly for a small size guild that runs dungeons TOGETHER they will earn plenty of influence. The big thing is you have to pony up gold in influence boosts. Dungeons are by far the fastest way to earn influence. 10 inf per person per dungeon. If you group together it gives you bonus inf. The cash you get from the dungeon (usually about 1g) can be turned into inf and bring earn you 1,000 influence per 2 gold you spend. By running dungeons you can accumulate quite a bit. I'm seeing about 1,000 per day in our guilds with just a few people doing dungeons a day. If they used the funds they made in there they could raise that even higher. It's possible but it will take work. It's not an instant thing. RIFT forced you to wait each week to pull off another set of missions. Once you have them unlocked it should be pretty easy to just keep running them. You just have to work towards it. It's going to take some time but in the end it will unlock worlds of fun for you and in the mean time you can jump in on other peoples missions and be rewarded for it.
