The inspiration for my Norn's name came from an essay by Poul Anderson that was written in the late 70s about the need for more realism in heroic fantasy literature. Unfortunately, I lost the book that contained the essay at some point during the intervening years.
On a whim I Googled it tonight and found that it had been reprinted on the web. It's an interesting read(to me) and the principles in it could be applied even today in making a realistic feeling world for an RPG, mmo or otherwise.
