Need help getting to know dungeons

I am having trouble getting into dungeon groups and only completed the manor last night for the first time, I am level ~55. I was just curious if there was an easier way to get groups with a willing leader who knows what they are doing. I have to run through the story mode and I know thats a pain, so if anyone is willing to work out days and times I would really apreciate it! My name in game is FuzzyPhoton.5478 and I am usually playing Tiberius Hedgeworth a ranger. Thanks!!

I am not sure I know what I am doing either but willing to come along to learn together if our play times sync up. My wife is also starting to ask about dungeons. Most nights I am on 9-11pm EST as Silas Gray.

I usually pop on around that time as well maybe a bit later than 9 depending on what I need to do for exams.

I know there are a few people asking often on raidcall to do dungeon and most of them are now pretty good at running dungeons so if you are on raidcall we might be able to run together.

I got into the run last night that way and with guild chat, but I was hoping for a more stable routine. I was stuck for a while with no one wanting to run when I was on. I was just seeing how we might plan a few things but not need to set up a formal event.

Hey Drezzan, There is an organized dungeon clearing group that started quite recently, The Slayers. Groups are scheduled weekly, in advance. Dungeons are completed in order (AC Story, then the three Explorable modes...then CM, etc). There is no requirement to join other than schedule availability, and the level required by the specific dungeon of course. For example, group A of the Slayers (myself included) cleared AC story last night. Next week, we will take on the first and hopefully second Explorable modes. For more information on this, check out the thread in the End Game PvE section of the forums. Hope this helps!

You're not alone, Drezzan. I'm level 80 and have never once set foot in a dungeon, not even story mode. That's not to say I wouldn't love to but there's just so much else to do that it hasn't been a priority. That said, there are a couple of regular dungeon groups you could get in on, depending on your availability and the hours you usually play. Ralcore mentioned The Slayers, or you could get in on some of the runs with TheMau and company. There are usually multiple groups running if there are more people than a single party can accommodate. A few others pop up from time to time also (Charlatan has a couple of runs scheduled for tomorrow. One's the 1st dungeon - Ascalonian Catacombs - at 4pm PST. That would be a great place to start!) There are a lot of great ways to get into the dungeon-ing swing around here without having to holler for PUGs in map chat. When in doubt, check in on RaidCall and see what's shakin' or check the GW2 event calendar regularly and you should see event times for both.

I'm interested in getting in more dungeon runs, sometime in the hopefully near future. I've been off of them for a few weeks now bc I injured my back and it's hard to commit to a full run.

Oh cool, I saw that post but thought since it was end game PvE that I would want to wait until lvl 80. I will defiantly tune in for those runs!

Story modes in this game are such that you don't need a "leader" or anyone particularly acuitive at tactics. They are designed to be able to be enjoyed by any class combo you choose to throw together. Don't get too hung up on having to "know" what you are doing, just form a group and go and learn together :)

Some generic tips: 1) DODGE! 2) Don't stop moving. 3) DODGE! 4) Don't revive people, that makes you stop moving. There are rare exceptions to this. 5) DODGE! 6) If you get downed, kill an add to rally. 7) DODGE! 8) Damage is less important than not dying, there are very few true DPS checks. 9) DODGE! 10) DODGE MORE! Vigor and endurance regen traits help you DODGE!

Exactly what SAI said. Focus on not getting hit. That is the only thing you really need to know before doing any story mode.
