Heading out to sea soon

Hey all,

I wish I could have been more active with GW2 launch and guild events as of late, but I've been gearing up to go out to sea here in the next week or two.  I did manage to get to 80 though and help a few people out by crafting some exotics.  I'm sure everything will be alive and well when I get back, and hopefully I can find enough time then to start leading events again like the old Warhammer days.  If I don't catch some of you online before I take off, good luck, be kind to each other, and I'll see you all again around January/February.

I'm back! 92 days out on patrol and I return. Hello everybody :) I'm still level 80 in all exotic gear (except back and jewelry) with about 15g to my name. I'd like to slowly work my way back into the game. I typically prefer to split my time between group play (WvW especially) and money making schemes (former marketplace guru... I see Denji's taken over in my stead). Any suggestions?

Im sure it's a non stop party for you bubbleheads on your 90 day patrols. I myself wouldn't step foot near a boomer. Glad you got your submarine driver's license. Welcome back, hope to see you in game. Maybe we'll go hunt grotapotamous together or something :)

Welcome back. I normally say "fair winds and following seas" when someone heads out, but unlike us skimmer's thats not an issue for you bubbleheads!

Haven't met you but I like your whole 2000 leagues under the sea thing you got going on there. I drive a 94 Kia 4 cylinder POS to work. Whats it like driving that big clunky thing around and whats under the hood? How long did it take to get your drivers licsence for a submarine? And if I make a pirate joke does it pertain, or will you just torpedo my jokes? :)

Got 239,000 horsepower under the hood and displaces 19,000 tons. Took about 3 years from when I commissioned to get the driver's license. I run a team of about 7 people in the control room and 3 people in the engine room all working together to drive the beast. That doesn't include the 20 or so other people stationed at all times to handle other non-driving but essential functions. And yes, we consider ourselves to be modern day pirates.

There be sailor jargon aplenty in this thread. Makes me wonder how many sailors and ex-sailors we be havin in the family. Avast ye dirty scoundrels, eyes front, get back to cleanin the head, mind the bollard and get yer eyes off the captains daughter or you'll be spendin time on the guts.

@Elth Im one of em O.o ex sailor that was supposed to go to subs, somehow wound up on an aircraft carrier instead. Although I excelled at my job in the navy, I also spent a lot of time at parade rest outside of the captain's office. I actually became a popular name at great lakes and got awarded a formal visit with the captain, something called "captains mast" within my first 3-4 weeks of boot camp O.o After I got out of the navy, I got a job working back with sub sailors and navy divers, then switched over to working with marines, then hopped backed over to the navy to work aegis on cruisers and destroyers where I think I'd like to stay for awhile, I like it here :) I don't know pirate speak, but Lasershark knows a little O.o

I'm ex-RAN (Royal Australian Navy) spent the majority of my time on Guided Missile Frigates (Identical to the Oliver Perry class) before settling down on the great barrier reef on a Hydrographic Survey Ship. I did HMAS Adelaide's final tour of Iraqi waters before she decommissioned so I have a soft spot for skimmers. While I was in I had the privilege to work with USS Essex, Firebolt, Toledo, JFK and Lincoln and many other units, including Aegis frigates (cant remember the names) seal teams and a police SWAT sniper of all people. Never got charged (never got caught) and never got a sailor tattoo, and I can't remember half the ports I've visited because I was too inebriated when I hit the soil. I'd love to still be out there but my wife wont have a bar of it so I'm working as a technician for an electricity distribution company now and coming home every night. It's a good life.

@ Elth, Ive been on two of your ships recently to do support. The Darwin (FFG 04) and the Perth (FFH 157)in fact your ships pull in fairly often and park right next to my office. It's a always a pleasure to work with the RAN, especially when you come stocked with VB :)

Haha good ole Vitamin B. The breakfast of Boguns (Aussie white trash- Pronounced bow-guns). Darwin was my sister ship (Along with Canberra) over in WA I'm surprised she's still afloat, Canberra and Adelaide are now diving reefs.

Thanks for the info. 239,000 horse power isn't shabby. I bet the gas milage kinda sucks though. :)
