New blog post from ArenaNet. I guess the big message is: update your video drivers!
I recently updated to the AMD Radeon HD 7850, and I'm getting good frames BUT boy I had to jump through some major hoops to get em locked in. Catalyst Control Center on Win7 64-bit is quite iffy. =/
I got a message on log in about my Nvidia driver, but game ran ok. I'm going to wait until Nvida releases it's new driver. Supposedly was scheduled for yesterday, but I don't see a new one on Nvidia site yet. I have 301.42
NVidia is supposed to be coming out with a new driver (305 I think) optimized for GW2 shortly. I am still running the 301 drivers which gave me the login warning message about outdated drivers. However, my new 690 has enough horsepower to brute force enough framerate to run smooth, even with all settings maxed. I downloaded the 304.79 beta NVidia drivers that the GW2 warning recommended. I read they work fine...I am not installing them though. Video drivers can be finicky and it would be a bummer to have problems getting in the game this weekend because I "fixed" something that was not broken. Sometime after I get on Sanctum of Rall and get a chartacter made, I will upgrade video drivers.
My last card was an NVidia card, then I got an AMD card after that. If your gonna change brands like this I HIGHLY suggest reformatting with a fresh install of Windows. NVidia software is like stuck with glue or something, and trying to remove it can pretty much ruin a motherboard. I have an AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series. I get more FPS than labeled on that particular chart prolly cause its not only factory overclocked but I also have the overdrive on max. But the Catalyst Control Center for AMD does have an update for me today. 12.6 to 12.8
I downloaded the beta driver for the 580 after looking at the graph in the article. I wasn't experiencing problems with the non beta drivers so I'll see on Saturday if my fps improves from the 35/40 it has been showing.
I have 301.42 for my Nvidia card. Been running everything on max and even tried out Supersampling yesterday with good 30-40fps. I'm going to wait for the 305 driver they are working on to show up and be stable before updating as I don't want to fix something that isn't horribly broken. I can get almost 50-60fps with max settings and just using FXAA currently but I do hope the new drivers are out soon.
What is the highest fps anyone has seen so far in the game?
