Hey there! I think I can help. Ive been theorycrafting my warrior for a month now.. just waiting for release.
Anyways, warriors can basically fulfill any of the three main roles of GW2, by which I mean Damage, Support, Control. Theres builds that succeed awesomely at all three. You just gotta decide which you wanna do.
For support you have shouts and banners. Both are area buffs that can be built to offer additional bonuses. If you check out my thread in the Warrior thread, youll see my shouts heal, remove a condition, and build adrenaline on top of its original effect.
For damage, you have some nice options as well. A build that was talked about a lot was the Bull Rush, quickness, Hundred Blades combo build. Specced into stances, a warrior could run up and knock you down, proccing this 4s quickness that makes your attacks faster, including for channeled spells, like... Hundred Blades, which he uses next, and can do a totally rediculous amount of damage so quickly, and its tricky to avoid. Meanwhile hundred blades builds adrenaline so they swap to their axe with sigils of intelligence and own your face with an amped up 100% crit chance eviscerate.
For control you have a lot of options. Hammer and mace and shield offers you a ton of cc abilities. Combine this with some of the physical skills like stomp and throw bolas and you can be a real nightmare.
Weapons. Personally Ill be using sword and warhorn and a rifle. Sword offers a really nice ability to leap toward your opponent, which you cab follow up with a 9s cripple, all the while applying stacks and stacks of bleeding.
Warhorn gives me a nice speed buff, which can also be used in combat to break cc effects. It also gives me an area buff/debuff that doubles how fast the dodge bar regenerates for friendlys, and halves it for enemies.
Warrior has two different ranged options. The Rifle and the Longbow. The Rifle is more focused on single target damage. Its autoattacks cause bleeding, it has a nice vulnerability debuff, and it has a nice ranged cripple as well. The longbow is similar but is more focused on aoe damage, from what Ive heard. I havnt tried the Longbow personally.
Other 1h weapons are axe and mace. Axe has an awesome burst ability and a point blank area of effect vulnerability debuff. It also has a short ranged cripple. Mace offers cc in the form of stuns. It also has a weakness debuff.
Greatsword and hammer. Greatsword offers good mobility, and good damage. Hammer offers a lot of cc and knockback. I didnt play much with these weapons either.
One thing all warriors have in common is finishers. Warriors have the greatest amount of combo finishers but no combo fields at all. This makes them twice as deadly in a team as lonewolfing it. Having no combo fields is probably the major disadvantage of the warrior.
Basically everything is viable, you can just choose a flavor you like and find a build that works well with it. Maybe choose a set of utility spells you like and build around it. Lemme know kinda what you wanna play and ill give you an example build.
Edit: lol nooo! My post took too long to type and he already got answered lol. Oh well I hope someone reading found it somewhat useful. :-)
