Foghladha has done a great job of simplifying the GW2 leadership claiming of Conquests. This is my attempt to summarize how to use it due to seeing that even in the simplified form, it is not being used correctly on some objectives. I even had to confirm a few things with Fog before I wrote this up because I do not want to give you incorrect information.
First, the great thing is that the types of objectives to be claimed have been separated so if you are doing WvW or PVP you are not searching for those icons in the mix with the PvE ones. We even have the Guild Missions in their own section for ease.
Second, we still have the wonderful list on the right to tell use the rank of Warlord you need to be in order to claim the objective. The Warlord ranking is setup so you start out small and work your way up to the big stuff in order to learn. The first rank up is easy to get after leading ten small events. Check your title on the website to the warlord rank list to see which rank you are. It is the last word in your title if you have done any leading at all. For example, my rank ends with Corcra (Purple) which is a rank 5 on the list.
Let’s first look at the layout of screen where you chose your conquests. This will look different as the icons can spread out more or shrink in more based on the size you have your browser window set at.
Most of these do not have any information on the tool tip other than its title due to it matching the icon you will see on the map for an event. The matching icon and name will be in the list to the right to tell you what Warlord rank you need to claim the objective.
To add the objective to your event, you simply left click on its icon and it should show up in the list below the icons. (mine is empty in the picture above). Once the event is completed you can scroll down to click End Event under the list. You cannot add an objective you are not the proper rank for, so it is a good idea to be sure of your rank and what you can do before leading a Conquest.
The reason to select the proper icon for the objectives you have completed is that everything is tracked for what we are doing overall in the game. If things are not properly claimed, it skews the information and also does not provide the proper points to you or your followers.
NOTE 1: We now have an icon for Path of Fire Bounty Hunts. Please use this and not the assassination and minor boss icons that you have been using.
World Bosses and How To Identify and Claim Them
One of the common places for confusion is how to Identify what is or is not a world boss. A complete world boss list can be found at: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_boss for easy reference. World Bosses in Guild Wars 2 are grouped into 4 types. Epic World Bosses, Legendary World Bosses, Champion World Bosses, and Temples. Each World Boss will drop a big chest on the ground which can be looted daily on each character. If a creature does not drop a chest on the ground they are not considered a world boss and should be logged as a generic event type. For our systems purpose we have separated out the world bosses into 3 groups: Epic World Bosses (), Minor World Bosses (), and Temples ().
One of the driving factors for keeping Epic World Bosses separate from others is the fact that since Gaiscioch began tracking Epic Creature kills back in Warhammer Online, we have placed the fiercest foes in this objective type so that we can get an accurate count of how many boss creatures we've killed that require coordination of more than 50 people. These are typically large scale events that require a great deal of planning and coordination to complete.
That said, the moment content goes live, typically it gets progressively easier to complete. The same is true with any games. A great example is Asha Catari in Rift. We made 9 attempts on Asha's life in Meridian before we finally completed it. It took 4 raid groups to down her, 2 focused on PvP and 2 focused on killing Asha. This same fight today is soloable. It is rare they hold up to the test of time.
Epic World Bosses (Gold Name, Custom Art Nameplate)
Each Epic World Boss can be found at the top of the Wiki under the Epic Heading. They will all have a Gold Name and Unique Custom Art above their name.
Minor World Boss (Champion or Legendary with Ground Chest)
The Minor World Bosses can be found on the wiki listed as Legendary or Champion World Bosses. They each will drop a daily chest on the ground which is lootable once per character per day.
Temples
These are found throughout Orr and feature a chain of events that lead to the killing of a legendary avatar of a god. There are 5 temples including: Temple of Balthazar, Cathedral of Eternal Radiance (Lyssa), Cathedral of Zephyrs (Dwayna), Temple of Melandru, and Temple of Grenth.
More information about temples can be found at: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Temple
Addition Note on Claiming Pre Events
You are able to mark the standard generic objective for each of the pre events but you should not mark the Boss event as a generic. Each Objective you claim is a Either/Or not an And. You should only mark 1 per victory. So you can claim assaults, gathering, defense objectives leading up to the boss, but the boss itself will use its own objective marker rather than a generic one.

In Closing
If you have any questions about the use of this system and how to properly claim your objectives, do not hesitate to ask Foghladha, an elder or a ranking event leader. You can see what ranks people are on discord by where their name shows on the right hand side of Discord when they are logged in. This is to help you find the people you may need to talk to for the answers.
