Movember 2013

That's right, it is that time of the year again! I haven't done it for a few years but deciding with how I have been up and down a lot over the last 5 years, it was time I supported those who can't step forward themselves.

I suffer from anxiety as well as I am Aspergers, so at times Marrra really doesn't get an easy break in our not-so-normal household but it is good to give out what we can for good causes!

I've signed up as apart of a team with my Government Department and unfortunately out of the 4 males in my office (and all the females who could be Mo Sistas), I am the only one supporting and want to make the best of it.

The brief talk Marrra and I had on my way home for lunch today is my mustache of choice will be 8-bit inspired.

HOW IT WORKS
Movember challenges men to grow a moustache for the 30-days of November, thereby changing their appearance and the face of men’s health.

In October Mo Bros sign up at Movember.com, and on the 1st of Movember with a clean-shaven face start their Mo growing journey.

Then for the entire month, these selfless and generous men known as Mo Bros, effectively become walking, talking billboards for 30 days. Through their growing efforts they raise awareness for the often ignored issues of men’s health, by prompting conversations wherever they go.

Another crucial part of being a Mo Bro is to raise funds for men’s health. Men donate their face, and much like taking part in a run or a walk for charity, ask their family and friends to sponsor their efforts.

Movember’s not just for men. The women of Movember are known as Mo Sistas. They play a vital role in the success of Movember by supporting and encouraging the men in their life to get involved. Mo Sistas also get involved by signing up at Movember.com, and participate by raising funds and awareness themselves. Essentially, Mo Sistas do everything that Mo Bros do, without a Mo. At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their Movember journey at one of the official GALA PARTÉS held around the world.

Last night, just before midnight, I had Marrra take a Before pic of me and then after the deed was done, the After (done at 12:20am).

I really, really had no idea who I was looking at in the mirror. It has been that long since I've looked at myself clean shaven :P

Let the fundraising begin!

The month is almost over! I've gotten some nice donations but decided to up the ante once a friend mentioned to make the mo more special by going PINK!

So the Mo went puink but it still isn't not good enough. This is where the ante upping occured. If I get more donations (already gotten $17 more at this point) then the eyebrows AND hair will go pink for the cause! I will also make them as vividly pink as possible for the photo I will upload.
