I think nature or at least the power company is telling me it is time to upgrade my monitor. A lovely power surge swept though my apartment and took it's furry out on my poor helpless monitor. Thankfully my computer, for as much one can check without a monitor can tell still works. Guess I know what I will be doing durin , y lunch break. Oh well no gaming for me with eveyone for a few days.
The best advice I ever received - well at least for computing - is to buy a battery backup for my computer equipment. The tech stated the little power suppressors are "nice" (and he chuckled) but a good battery backup not only protects from power surges but power outages also - a quick drop in power can be just as bad as a big surge and usually damages more equipment than surges since they happen more frequently than people realize.
I live in AZ and we have power surges and power outages all the time and the drops can only last for a blink of an eye which just lets the monitor flicker and lags the game for that split second. I played the other night though a 3-5 minute long drop in power since all my computer stuff is plugged into the batter backup - PC, monitor, cable modem, and router.

I went ahead and ordered 2 new monitors to replace the dead one... shhh don't judge me ;)
Had to fluff the order some how to get interest free payments for 12 months.. and I have wanted two monitors. I am sure the problem is with the power adapter for the monitor but I lack a volt/amp meter to test it, well that and I am not sure where to find a replacement. Well that and not sure if a replacement would work without knowing if the monitor it self is damaged. So new monitors it is to make for the least amount of down time. I can always try to get it up and running as a spare or to finally replace the old 50LB CRT I have in the bed room on my old back up system. I guess I could use that system to play but it lacks sound due to cannibalizing its sound system for my primary system when my faithful sound system died months ago.
That's amusing; I actually ordered three to replace the last monitor I lost :D
Fair warning, once you switch to two screens it's hard to go back to one and... well... it can get a bit obsessive if you let it. *cough* is working on five *cough*
I have two monitors at work, and I used to work on to monitors back when I used two CRTs. So it has been difficult to get by with 1. On a side note, I fiddled with the power adapter again after I got home from work and the monitor came to life.... I think it is trolling me. I didn't do anything I didn't do the last 2 days. Grumble grumble grumble... Oh well 2 24in monitors and this 21.5in monitor to replace the old CRT...
Oh an Ooooooooooo *drool* I would love to see the 5 monitor setup you have going! Any suggestions????? :)
