You don't know me but I'm back.

Hi folks.

I've been away for a while, and even when I was you probably never met me online due to me being extremely busy and rarely able to participate.  Still, I enjoy the camaraderie of the family when I can get it, and I'm getting into a groove such that I can spend more time gaming online.  I'm in Guild Wars 2 now as Helfreya the warrior and Skutai the engineer.  Maybe I'll see you there.

One thing that took up a lot of my time and energy over the last year was getting the gear, training, and fitness together to participate in a full contact armored fighting tournament, representing the USA against many other nations.  Thought y'all might be interested since so much of your leisure time is spent watching things hack at other things with swords and axes.

So how do you see out of those helmets?  

What kind of injuries did participants get?  

What was your STA/STR/DEX after training for that?  Please tell me CHA/INT/WIS were not important factors to that hand to hand combat!?

Looks like fun. I did SCA for around 15 years and the house I was co-founder on is still going strong. And yes, I am too old for taking a beating. Not that I can't hold my own but you just don't heal up like you used to. Enjoy it while you can :)

Garyc, yes, the helmets are hard to see out of, and breathe too.  People definitely get injured, though the armor works surprisingly well.  Most injuries are twisted joints or the result of armor failures.

Anyway, it's hella fun.
