This week I earned my PMP (Project Management Professional) certification so I can now officially do the job I was hired to do and have been doing for the last three years. ;)
If anyone else is working on theirs, I am happy to assist.

Congrats!!! I hear from many coworkers what a ..... pain that test is and the study for it can be. I have been meaning to start studying for it as my work said they would pay for it. I dont have extensive project management experience, but I can finesse my work experience to meet the PMP requirements to take the test.
How long did you study for it before taking the test?
Woohoo! Congrats!
One day I may considering getting it, but for now I am happy as team member rather than team lead. Though I too know a few people that have been doing jobs that should require a PMP for multiple years and don't have it.
AWESOME!!! I know that is a pain to get. Almost got mine twice but once the company went bankrupt so I wound up not in PM stuff for awhile and then I wound up with MS and on disability. I still have a slew of books for studying and have done some courses. If I hadn't wound up with MS I would have got my Masters and Certification paid for by work for project management. Oh, well. I'm now just a very well organized geek with too much time to manage. ;)
It involved close to a year of classes to meet the education requirements, plus an intensive two day course, plus a ton of studying and sample test taking, plus of course all of the work experience that is required to have beforehand. The test was a real mean one to study for if, like me, you are not great at memorization. Of course, now that I know it and passed the test I have a much better idea of what and how to focus on. It is all of the required hours and hours and hours of prep and classwork and work experience before you are even allowed to apply to be allowed to take the test that is the real pain. At least work paid for it . . . actually, they required it. In order to continue to be allowed to be a project manager they require their employees to get it after x amount of time.
The last minute studying itself was 4 days of studying. I scheduled it for noon on a Tuesday and took Friday and Monday off from work, dedicated 4 solid days to prep without distraction, and focused on general study plus the things I was weak at remembering.
My dad did that. I remember the many, many hours of his studies, the constant "SHH! I'M STUDYING!" and more.
I'm glad he got it, and that you all did too. Gratz
Congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment that will serve you well for your entire career.
