I have read this book every other year for the last decade. I consider it to be one of if not my favorite books of all. They are making a movie of it that is expected to hit theaters in near the end of 2013.
I'll look for it in the library this week :)

Yeah. I haven't read it for a decade and have been itching to read it with you guys. :) Yeah for Ruwund and his conviction in deciding the book. Nicely done.

Ruwund, Why would a marine already have a copy of Ender's Game. I would think it more likely that they would have a copy of Starship Troopers (the book not the movie)? By the by, I love the book, it only took 20 years for me to read (listen to the audio books actually) of the rest of the series.
Just ordered this. It's been a long time since I've read a good Sci-Fi. I've been in a Fantasy rut for decades.
I just got it on my eReader (finally got a replacement) and knew of it but not read it. I'm a few chapters in at present after starting it today. Thanks btw for getting the group started here. I was so busy in GW2 or moving house that the Book Club topic was completely forgotten to me till Marrra told me a few days ago :P

Got the audiobook, and just started today. Enjoying it so far.
@ snazz. The book was course material at a few of the classes at the Marine University at Quantico.
Oh, a book club! Nice. I was looking for an excuse to bump this title to the top of my reading list and here it is. Gonna pick up that on kindle later tonight.
I haven't read anything since I finished A Memory of Light and my husband keeps asking me what my next book is going to be. So, thanks for deciding for me! I've never done any kind of book club, let alone a virtual one. This should be fun!

I love this book, and highly recommend it. Can't wait for the movie! I've been looking forward to a movie of this for years... when I heard Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley were on board, I couldn't have been more excited. So glad to see it getting some love here as the first book of the Gaiscioch book club! The sequel "Speaker for the Dead" is also fantastic, as are several others in the series.
Will I like it if I like William S. Gibson type sci fi?
How is everybody doing so far with the book? For those first time readers of this novel...I hope its magical. Looking forward to discussing it with you all.
Ender's Game is one of the few books that made the cut when I packed my two suitcases and moved from one end of the earth (Australia) to the other (Canada). Love that book.
hehe cliff i finished the book in two days. I am thinking of pushing up the open thread for discussion to the 25th of May. What do you guys think? I know not everybody has lots of time each day to read so that is why the long delay before people discuss.
That sounds fine by me. Marrra will be reading it a few days before then so it is fresh in her mind. I finished mine on the weekend. Depending how we go, might be good to have a category on the forum for Book Club, perhaps?
I just finished my first read of the book this weekend! I'll definitely be keeping an eye open for the discussion thread. Now I need to go watch the movie trailer...I didn't want to watch it before I finished in case it spoiled something.

@ Hexx - Ender's Game is Science Fiction, BUT would be an entirely different read than Gibson's dark-future/Cyberpunk books. However, if you like his paranoid "hero under control of others" kind of situations, you aught to give it a read. Of course, I recommend this book to anyone who will listen to me (since this book ties with Dune as my favorite book ever). We read it outloud with our kids in anticipation of the movie coming out this fall - and they are fired up about it too :) and... kudos to you folk out there who have read Starship Troopers too ;)
Absolutely the most amazing book I have ever read. I love this book so much. Anyone who hasn't read it absolutely must pick it up and read it. I could rave and rave about it, but I'm going to wait until someone says I can post my review and opinions on it. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who has yet to read it.
