I have to admit that after I heard him make the statement that PRX stays in a game an average of 10 months - I lost interest in what he had to say and turned it off after he stated they had really done all there is to do "for the guild" after just a couple of months. I'm trying to figure out if they ever really have fun in any game they undertake? or is it all business? But that was my point in another post... things that are too easy - don't and can't maintain interest. No real investment = easy to leave and move on. Take a year to develop a character and get your epic weapon and you really don't just want to trash them and jump ship. They are more of a part of you.
who is prx? who is fable?
Prx is a guild from JQ and Fable is one of their members. I also couldn't believe they spend an average of 10 months in a game. After that statement I also lost interest in the interview. Although they did speak about Archeage a little bit, which was the only thing that kept me listening to the interview.
Well... ten months is longer then many players stick with a new game.

What type of impact is this having with JQ overall in WvW? I haven't played GW2 in recent weeks...so I'm not up on things.
JQ is still JQ from what I can tell though I'm on from like 6am to 9am server. Go in WvW at this time two or three times a week. Actually was wondering more about Black Gate this morning since we were still ahead of them points wise.
And yeah, wasn't really interested in what he had to say either. Except doing a legendary, actually figuring out some of the puzzles I've never made to th end and maybe bothering with Fractals a lot more, I really have done most of this game. However, I still find it fun to go back and do things over again with a new class.
Also, it's the friends I have here that keep me around, too. They make even the rehash of dying too many times to JQ fun, especially since we are getting better as a team being on at the same time all the time. ::chuckles::

"Also, it's the friends I have here that keep me around, too. They make even the rehash of dying too many times to JQ fun, especially since we are getting better as a team being on at the same time all the time. ::chuckles::" That is actually one of the top 3 things my games need... good folks to hang with.
I lasted about 4 minutes into the video, then zoned out once I realized that they're ALL members of PRX, so its just a PRX member's "blahblahblah, we're important, blahblahblah, we're leaving the game, so feel the zero effect of our departure" video. >_> There is just no way I am sitting through 38 minutes of that. I've never even heard of PRX, until a month ago when Fog, Spartan or someone mentioned they were a "professional PVP" guild on RC. I mean really, what games have they been well known in? Those are just rhetorical questions, tbh, I really couldn't care less. JQ will not be affected much, because like the chubby dude said, they only had ~90 actives with low play times, left. (Maybe if they had a better guild, people would hang around longer, eh?) BTW, how is it that the two dudes are visible in the video, while the FEMALE just has a blacked-out screen with a sexy cartoon on it? o.O
PRX weren't always on JQ. We first bumped heads with them when they were on Sea of Sorrows, then once SoS got to tier 1, PRX jumped over to the EU league for a while before coming back to JQ around the time that free transfers ended. They are very regimented in how they play MMOs, to them it is a competition, not a game. Each to their own though, they still enjoy themselves, they just go about it differently to us.
I watched that vidcast earlier in the year and the PRX self love really got annoying, the female host denigrates every other guild and server other than PRX and JQ.

JQ has enough depth and I doubt this will cause the server to drop in ranking, especially since PRX still fields a number of people. Afterall, JQ was already the #1 server before PRX transferred there. (A point that lost PRX a lot of points in my book. To me, it's not good sportsmanship to throw an already overstacked server over the top and create such an imbalance in WvW just so PRX can bloat their winning "record" then brag about it.) EMP is pretty much the driving force behind JQ's WvW success and that is the guild that could cause JQ to suffer if they left. Same with SF. Similar to if SoR were to loose Choo, TW, or FEAR. And yeah, I second the person who mentioned how annoying Clementine is. She's pretty vulgar in her dismissing of all things non-PRX. Fable seemed like a nice guy though.
Just saw over Twitter that Team Legacy currently on Kaening is also leaving GW2.
I saw that too, Martong. I kind of lost respect for Team Legacy early on because they jumped servers sooooo many times. I read their announcement but couldn't really find any reason why they're leaving. Of course it was so long I kind of drifted off half way through... It look like they're planning to get into ESO in a major way - they've got about 12 sections in their forums dedicated to ESO (all private, but you can see the titles/descriptions from the index page), including things like 'ESO After Action Reports' (didn't realise people did those in games outside of EVE!) and 'ESO Intel Forum'.
JQ has always been the most steady, top tier server from the beginning. They were before PRX and will be after the new casual status of PRX.
PRX chose that server when Arenanet announced the end of free xfers, and we needed to decide on a place to settle in for good that could provide consistent top tier RvR experiences. It was a choice mainly between Blackgate and Jade Quarry and JQ won out in the end (coverage issues settled it). We thought it would be fun to fight against SoS after being allies for so long previously.

Any of the servers currently in tier 1 will provide a consistent top tier performance. SoR isn't going to drop to tier 2 anytime soon unless another lower tier server stacks with transfers and moves thier way up. With the upcoming transfer of a large pacific coast guild to SoR, along with the two oceanic guilds they claim are coming with them, SoR is going to be stronger than ever. That said, I'm glad PRX didn't come to SoR. I don't think they would have been a good fit with our community. I mean no disrespect with that, it's just an observation. As JQ is learning, PRX didn't come to stay long term.
PRX didn't leave JQ. Just went from Hardcore status to casual. No more "Red Alerts."
So what is a professional guild? I think of professional as meaning you do it for a living and it is your income. Does it just doing an expert job in this case?
Primarily professional in attitude and gameplay. PRX has been around since 1999 and focuses on "winning" but doing so in a professional manner: Being respectful to one another, not engaging in forum wars, handling oneself professionally on the field. Their voice chat is full, but it is uncluttered during events, and everyone speaks very calmly and casually even in demanding situations. They constantly work and rework builds and strategies and discuss mistakes constructively outside of the game. No one is ever talked down to. They work closely with other guilds and welcome the server to join in PRX WvW events. They maintain good relationships with many of their "enemies" in the spirit of good sportsmanship. They often get a lot of flack on message boards because they stand out. People feel free to make accusations or make ignorant comments about them since they will not respond to baiting, but let the scoreboard do the talking. I think sometimes people mistake their desire to win is done so by sacrificing fun. Which it isn't. In games like Ultima Online, PRX takes an Anti-PK stance.
You would be correct also to consider a professional guild as one that makes money while playing like the PMS | H20 Clan that frequently competes in gaming events like Quakecon, etc for monetary prizes but also has casual divisions.

So many gamers are focused on the short game these days. So sad as the gamers are what dictates the industry. Personally I long for the long game. I'd like to call a place home for several years. This changing game business every few months would drive me insane. Fortunately the shortest time we've spent in any game is 2 years (Which if you add in beta/alpha usually comes out to 3 years). I still hope to find one of those 5+ year gems like DAOC. Really would like to give up the traveling circus and grow some roots in a place we can call home.
I think that guilds like PRX just prefer the PvP part of gaming, and so many games split their focus between PvE and PvP. I don't think the guilds or the game companies are at fault. PRX just hasn't really had a place to call home for a long duration because they would prefer a RvR-centric game like Camelot Unchained. At the same time I don't think a game like Camelot Unchained could hold GSCH's attention for the long haul, because GSCH is more of a mixed PvE/PvP guild. Formerly potential homes for the PvP-centric, like Ultima Online, DAoC, and Shadowbane have come and gone either being decommissioned or being patched beyond recognition. PRX has continued to game together for 14 years. I don't think there is anything sad about that. As for GSCH, maybe ESO will have a homey feeling? GW2 still seems to have a nice bit of PvE and PvP content for us, and the price is right to maintain a fairly active membership. Archeage seems to have some really nice features and I like that they have hooked up with Trion.
When I think of games that could hold me for the long haul, out of all the MMORPGs I have played, Star Wars Galaxies PRE NGU is the only one that really comes to mind. I wont say DAOC because I was never able to experience it in its prime and was still deeply ingrained into Neverwinter Nights persistent worlds at the time. I long for a triple A fantasy sandbox game but I'm afraid I wont ever truly be satisfied. Pathfinder Online is my last hope for this kind of long term adventure, but themepark MMOs are aimed at short term these days with too many comfortable features and no penalties or setbacks to give a true feeling of achievement.
In all candor, when I think of long view gaming guilds, I just don't think of (nor had I ever heard of) PRX. I think of The Syndicate. I think of Fires of Heaven. I think of Shadowclan. I think of Afterlife. Guess I'm getting old, but from the dusty rocker in which I sit, a real gaming guild is about investment in the game and community, not leaderboards, status, or endorsements (paid or otherwise). Would I want an MMO that I play to be stocked with players who are more concerned for their points than their people? Um, no.
Pathfinder Online! Woot! Probably one of the most interesting MMO's (IMO) on the horizon!
Gotta feel sorry for PRX. Not lasting more than 10 months into a game means they likely gave up on Warhamer Online just before it reached its sweet spot. All that time spent suffering though Warhammers bugs, and none of the reward that came after. Over a year of the most magnificent battles I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
More facts, less speculation , please. :)
Even I missed out on the glory months of Warhammer Online. I played for the first month but had no guild or RL friends playing it so I went back to Age of Conan. I had my heart set on playing an Orc Choppa as well so I went afk until they finally released them. Then I ended up playing a Warrior Priest anyway and met Foghladha and Gaiscioch through the Rift pre-launch Forums. If I hadn't been lost and searching for a new MMO I doubt I would have discovered Gaiscioch so looking for a home ended up with me finding a family instead.
I so wanted Warhammer to be THE game. Huge fan of the WH lore and have read numerous WH novels. BTW someone mentioned Fires of Heaven. Anyone know what happened to them? Their website went down a few weeks ago.
