I am visiting Austin in a couple weeks and staying for 3 weeks (no GW2 for me noooo), I have been there before a couple times but I have been bored so I am trying to get recommendations about places to visit, where to eat certain special things, etc.

Most of the time when I ask about what to do in Austin, I get referred to the bars and night live and to be honest I am just not that way.  I have gone to pretty much all the main parks and touristic areas, but I am sure there must be other nice places to look at.

Sooo, if you are from Austin, do you know any places?

I think that one of the Elders, Spartan, lives in Austin. You can send him a /whisper or look for him in one of the guild-chats, I'm pretty sure I'm remembering correctly.

Try the Green mesquite BBQ for food if in Austin . there`s a spot in one town Taylor Texas where people wait in line for up to 2 hours just to order BBQ . We have great BBQ here but unlike other states we rarely drown the meat in sauce and normaly have a little on it so it doesn`t cover up the taste of the meat, as good BBQ doesn`t even need sauce . you need to At least get a Chicken fried steak if in Texas .

I'll second Uchi/Uchiko. They were recently listed as one of the top 20 most important restaurants in America by Bon Appetite. Plus my brother in law is Tyson Cole so I its important that I give a plug for him. ;) In addition to Uchi, the Wildflower museum is awesome as is the Bob Bullock Texas Museum. Fredricksburg and Wimberly are nice little towns just outside of Austin with lots to do and see.

I'll second the recommendations for Chuy's & The Salt Lick. I miss them both! I've heard great things about the Greem Mesquite. For breakfast I liked The Omlettrey, Magnolia Cafe, and a taco place on South Congress whose name escapes me. If you like record shops Waterloo Records is a good one. The Book People used to be a great book store. They're across Lamar from one another iirc. While you're on that block check out Amy's Ice Cream. If gaming & geekery are dear to your heart: Dragon's Lair Comics & Games. If you'd like a pint both the Dog & Duck Pub and the Draught Horse are nice pubs well off sixth street. Enjoy!

Good call on Amy's - just the other day had some bourbon chocolate walnut ice cream - just yum. Haven't been to the Omlettrey. If you make your way to San Antonio be sure to check out Dough.

I didn't know there were Segway tours in downtown, that would be something fun to try ^_^ I can't believe I have never been at Dragon's Lair Comics & Games!! I will visit it this time!! You know, I have been at the burger place next to Amy's Ice Cream, but the burgers were so big that I didn't have space for ice cream afterwards hehe. Thank you so much for all the recommendations!!

Huts Hamburgers used to be a fun place. Depending on the time of year you can always watch bats fly out from Congress Street bridge at dusk.

Your brother in law is Tyson Cole? That is pretty cool. My wife and I love Uchi it is just so yum... Sushi with a Texas flare is all kinds of win.
