I wonder if it will be worth it, but this is exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted a tablet I could game on, I still want one lol. Something to consider, however, we gotta close on the house and move in first. Can't wait for 1/30 ..... so psyched :)
It will be worth it this is the final inception to the project fiona they reveiled at last years ces. It was supposed to be out before xmas but they decided to take more input from people and finalize it based off what gamers and tablet users wanted. This thing really isnt a tablet in a sense its way way more powerful then any tablet on the market. Its going to have an option for a I7 chip inside it along with other things that way outclass any other tablet. Baiscally its more a laptop without a keyboard then anything. I have been tossing around the idea of getting one myself.
Think I would rather have a gaming laptop for the price, would have more functionality and I could use a mouse.
Well the price is going to be well below a gaming laptop. You also can use a mouse with it. You have the option of getting it with the gaming attachments on the sides or with a keyboard mosue attachment according to some of the info i have read on it. Either way this is aimed more at the tablet consumer then the pc consumer so it might be very attractive to that market.
From the articles I've seen about the Razer Edge, you can attach keyboard & mouse, the dock, the X-Box (Sabretooth/Onza) controllers, and the Project Fiona side attachments to the same device, thought not all at the same time. This is looking like something in my future; I've been wanting a table, leaning to Samsung until now, but considering the Razer Edge can do tablet stuff and is able to play full on PC games... It looks like we have a winner.
The hardcore PC gamers that commented on this tablet seemed to think the idea of a tablet keeping up with PC towers that can be upgraded as games come out, as an unrealistic platform for hardcore gamers. They think the tablet will function more like a gaming console would and thus not a platform for hardcore gaming. I don't know enough about the tablet to agree or disagree. For the price I would tend to steer towards a laptop. Like all things electronic, I like to wait a while before purchasing to make sure the item is built right. It took me years before getting an IPad and got the 2nd generation when I did buy it. Xbox 360, I bought it after they fixed the red ring of death that plagued the earlier versions. Plus when I wait for a bit the price usually comes down a bit as well. :)
