Ok guys,

First up for me is no pizza, ice cream or beer. I know tough right? yea. The three main foodgroups for a gamer, cutting them right out of the diet! In place of that, tea, brocolli, apples and some nuts and beans and stuff.

Second up, playing my guitar at least as much as I do video games. This isn't that hard as I really love my walnut Larrivee.

Third is to read more books than I watch TV. The tv shows these days are pretty awful, about the only thing I watch are old british crime dramas on Netflix. There were a couple series I liked alot this year. Game of Thrones and Homeland were pretty good. Other than that? uh go Colts!

Fourth is to excersize at least 20 minutes or so a day. WvWvW counts right? no, probably not...

And last but not least. To play more with the Gaisioch family! I've been MIA for a while now and just been having a hard time getting into Rift and GW2. Gonna give both games a new fair shot this year.

Well, any of you all brave enough to share yours?

Cheers!

Kurt

I went from 248 to 195 just by cutting my meals by half in size. Not changing anything about my diet, just the amount. Anyways My new year's resolution is to finish college and hopefully play more board games than video games. Got quite the collection, not many people to play with. If anyone lives near Lake Jackson TX and likes to play board games, message me.

Looks like you've got a lot of good goals, Kurt. I've found that if you tackle one thing at a time it's much easier to change your habits to accomplish those goals. Good luck with achieving yours. :) I wouldn't say I have a specific New Years Resolution, just goals I've been working on for a while. I will be finishing my masters degree by March with my last two classes. Have to get my PMP project management certification by May or lose money on it. Plan to lose 70lb more this year (down 15lb now) - I exercise 5 times a week and count the calories. I still eat pizza and drink beer, I just don't do it every day and I have only one slice/bottle at a time. Once I've got some of that done I have other long term goals I'll start working on. :)

Mine is so cliche, but I'm kind of excited to get started on it. I'm trying to get in shape and run again, so I can run in the Color Run and various other charity runs. I want to be more of an activist, and put my money where my mouth is. I want to stop saying I will do these things and just do them.

Any worthwhile change will take WORK and commitment. Try figuring out food and exercise when you have MS that makes things wonky. It still beats me why one day something fatigues me and another day it doesn't. And talking to my hand to get with the program, that isn't working. ::chuckles:: However..... The good point is I actually lost 15 pounds last year and stayed in the same three pound range I'm bouncing in even through all the food during the holidays. Now that latter part is a FIRST!!! I usually have a few pounds to burn off afterwards. So last years goal of at least eating what I like but working on a little weight loss did turn out right. This year I want to get on my treadmill more and get back to walking more outside during the warmer months. Like Rory being able to run would be nice. I can run, but NOT far. Then again I would love to be able to do a 5k at a 3.5 mph walking speed if not run it. The other is to be more serious about my blog and really aim for a weekly posting. So far I did that at the end of December with a thing around part of the Christmas story and about choices for the New Year. The next one is perculating pretty good. Not going to make a resolution on any other writing yet, that is going to be thought out more as I have two unfinished novels and one finished one that needs the hefty edit process. People who I have check these like them, but I got stuck on all three of them with what I need to do. ::chuckles:: I would like buy a clue. ;) Rylssa, I'll be routing for you on that grand finish of your degree and acquiring the PMP certification. I would have had mine a couple of times. First try the company went out of business and I wound up out of project management for several years. Second try I found out my health issues were due to MS and wound up out of work. I did a lot of training in it, mostly not out of my pocket thankfully. I know it is WORTH IT! Being a member of PMI and getting in a local chapter has awesome networking benefits, as well. The one I was in even did prep classes for the tests to help out those aiming for a cert of any kind under the PM umbrella.

Mine is to pick my Waelwulfas gaming community/website project back up, off of the ground, and make it work. There's bound to be a point where bad luck and bad decisions turn around, so maybe 2013 will finally be the year that things come together. lol

My only goal this year is to focus on the things that make me smile :) Life has been too serious for a while now. I made some life goals, like I always do, but maybe they can wait. I'd like to lose a little weight, but I think it's stress that put it on to begin with! 2013 should be a year of fun.

I announced via Raidcall my New Years Resolution. I found that if I made it public, I would get the support I needed to be successful. Therefore, I am now using the forums to announce my resolution. For the next year, 2013, I will no longer be a camel shepard in Saudia Arabia. I will no longer herd, milk, clean, ride, nor collect anything remotely related to camels. Thank you in advance for your undying support of my very trying resolution.....Pops

Goal 1: Yeah for Wheel of Time to finally be done! I am like most and just took a break from the series, like a decade, to let it get finished. Now I will pick up the last three books and see how the epic journey ends. :) Thats my new years resolution #1. Read things I would read anyways. Goal 2: I will think about losing weight while I ignore the scale because I know what its going to do. Goal 3: I will understand camel jokes. Goal 4: I will keep my previous 3 goals. Goal 5: Sometimes when your on a goal a thon, you just need more goals. My goal is to write another goal. Goal 6: When I think I am being clever, I don't know when to stop and why the joke is no longer funny. I will stop when I am ahead.

Rylssa - I have PMP certification - hit me up if you have any questions, need tips, etc. Cliff - Wheel of Time! It's been so long since I read those...and never the last few. Might just do the whole series from scratch...thanks for the idea :-) My resolution: Focus on my appearance more. I know, it sounds shallow, but from working in a very casual environment for many years I have become TOO casual. I rarely put on makeup any more, live in polo shirts, jeans and flip flops. Even my "around the house" clothes/PJs are pretty pathetic. So I'm gonna spruce myself up a bit. Oh and get back into yoga - not sure why I ever stopped :-/ Good luck to all!

Wheel of Time is finally finishing?! OMG, @Cliff I stopped reading it about a decade ago also....somewhere around "Crossroads of Twilight" book 7ish? It just started to dragggggg. I've started "Game of Thrones". Well, I'm about halfway through the first book. So I guess my New Years Resolution is to finish the "Game of Thrones" trilogy! There, now I have a goal :)

@Briseadh: Thanks. :) I'll certainly be busy with school and the studying coming up. Just so hard to make myself sit down and read through the PMP prep books without a really definitive deadline coming up, but I know it's going to take at least 40 hours of studying and can't be put off until the last minute. I am sure I will manage, though. And good luck with your goals, too, I can't imagine what it must like with MS. I have a hard enough time getting myself moving without any disabilities, so good for you in losing what you've lost so far and keeping it off. Wheel of Time - I've been waiting for the final WOT book, too, but I'll have to wait longer to read it. They are delaying the eBook release for two or three months - I just don't buy hardcover or paperback books anymore. @Ranarri: Thanks for the offer, I'll keep that in mind. :) Nothing wrong with wanting to dress up a bit more. People don't necessarily talk about it, but it makes a difference in the impression you give to others, especially professionally. I kind of consider dressing nicely/makeup a necessary part of my career. I love yoga, too. I do it at home with the P90X yoga DVD - it's a nice mix of Vinyasa yoga to get your heart-rate up, and then gets into more Yin-like yoga to stretch things out.

Wheel of Time - now I'm scared. I have like maybe the first 10 books on my shelf and I started grabbing random books I had not read in a decade or more when I ran out of things not read yet. ;) I slay books easily even since I was a kid. So if I don't game too much (oops did that this week), I can kill a 1000 pages in a week. I think I impressed and freaked out my 12th grade english teacher by reading the Grapes of Wrath in the first weekend of school. Well, it was raining all weekend, so..... Anyway, I'm in the middle of book 3 of the Wheel of Times series in my re-read of my fantasy and sci-fi library. I know I don't have them all and haven't bothered to pay attention to when it would finally end. LOL! Thanks for letting me know it is next week. Thankfully the Mayans were interpreted totally wrong by some poor geek and we made it to 2013. MUWHAHAHA. As for the weight loss I am so glad grandma's chocolate cake is almost gone. I have a sugar high from the frosting!!! And yes eating it until it is gone. There is a tad bit of pumpkin pie left, too.

I used to play, dev and GM WoT MUDs back in the early 90's. I never really liked the books, thought they were a snore, but loved the world he created. Glad to hear the series is being finished, didn't think it would ever have an ending after he died.

Hmm not really going for new years resolutions but this year I want to achieve well in my nursing studies (currently a B+ grade student, so would love to get my garde average up), lose more weight (I've already lost 22 pounds in the past month but I put that down to exam stress, my sister being sick and the stress of preparing for a family xmas on a tight budget.) Most of my other goals are more long term and aren't likely to be achieved this year (unless I win the lottery and take time off from study)

Life's too short for regrets
