I saw it on opening night and was ... a little disappointed. I thought they really played up the video game references portion in advertisements, and then barely actually had any in the movie, after the first few scenes. But after thinking about it for a few days, I gradually came around and realized that I was rating the movie on the wrong things, and that it was actually quite good, if a bit cookie-cutter. The visuals are fantastic, and the aesthetics are even better. The story isn't exactly original but it's sufficiently heart-warming. The music is great, especially the Sugar Rush theme song, which I feel is the single most brilliant piece of the movie. In short, don't go in expecting pure gamer pandering, and you'll surely have a good time.
I loved this movie, thought it was well done. Also every Gamer needs to see this movie.
There were SO many little references to games from the early to mid 90s that would go right over the heads of children and non gamers of that era.
I loved all the little details in the movie - like the older game characters not moving as smoothly as the newer game characters... I know I am biased in favor of it cause being there when the first video games came out. That Lemon Milkshake with vanilla icecream, blended with Prosecco, brown sugar lemonade and a hint of violet syrup helped my enjoyment as well...
My kids want to see that soooo bad. Will have to go check it out. =)
Loved the movie, and Paperman is a breakthrough in 3D/2D animation blend technology
I also saw this movie. I enjoyed it because I love video games and animation. I don't have kids however this is a really great father daughter movie.
We went to see this with my 4 kids (ranging from age 12-4) and we all loved it. It was funny and cute.
