Hey Not sure if I could ask here :P but I was wondering if anyone know some great headphones that are 7.1 surround sound headphones with a mic I have the turtle beach x11 with a earforce dss, but I'm wondering if there is better also the dolby digital only kicks in when there is a dvd encoded with dolby digital :( so i dont get the full experience i was wondering if there was better headphones that get the full experience without really having to have that encoding or if someone know's how to enable it with software let me know, thanks -Eric aka fathual, sardukar or on guild wars 2 = sardunkarna

I'm using the Dx12 of turtlebeach's but to be perfectly honest you are most likely not going to find true 7.1 surround sound headphones. Most 7.1 surround sound headphones aren't what you say "true 7.1" meaning there isn't 7 individual speakers and a subwoofer on the headphones themselves. So what they do instead is use a 7.1 sound controller to give the illusion of true 7.1 surround sound. I think the main thing you should look for are headphones that use an optical cable. You aren't going to get good surround sound without that and believe me it makes a huge difference. The Dx12's I use have an optional amp that uses optical and I have found them to be pretty great overall. My only complaints with turtlebeach headphones in general is that there is a slight humming static because of the mic feedback. Oh and don't go wireless. I've made that mistake and it's just more sound degradation, upkeep on charging the batteries is annoying, and in the end it's just another couple of parts that are going to break down over time.

Ah I wish I could go wireless because I'm Constantly trying to get up stretch get tea w.e. But like you said it degrades the sound quality and the battery life is horrible. OH with the buzzing sound I found if you plug it into the computer or the dss its self it tends to buzz but if you have a separate usb charger you can eliminate that sound also I bought the micro II for the fiber optic and omg you can notice the difference :) I'm sure if you had a great sound card though it probably will be the same as the micro II USB fiber optic thinggy mc bobber. btw read about the micro II it says something about canceling out loud computer electronics from your computer or something like that.
