GW2 What would you change.

  Don't get me wrong. I had an awesome time on this beta weekend. Yes I am fully aware that this is still beta and thus there still is many things to be changed.  I still firmly believe it is going to be the best mmo to come along in a vey very long time.   But if you was Mike and could weald the almighty and powerfull wind of change upon the unsuspecting world of Tyria, what would you change?

 

 A few of the things I would want to change? 

1. Take out the slower running speed when you enter into combat. I didn't really notice it until Saurday night. When I was in WvWvW and running with Gaiscioch version of Ghengis Khans' Horde. To me it's kind of entertaining to fire a shot or two at a random monster in our travels across the map.  I was however bummed to notice the pack starting to out pace me when ever I did that.

2.  I would beef up Engineers a little more for PvE content. I'm very satisfied wih my Engineer in PvP.  I would also reduce the cool downs on their turrets. Perticularly the Thumper turret considering to me that is my tanking pet on the engineer. (Disclaimer: Maybe I'm not playing the Engineer right) Then again maybe I just really miss my Ritualist from GW1 and I'm trying to fill that void with a Engineer. Hmmm Ritual Lord crossed with an Engineer with turrets hmmmm.  

3.  I would add in a lot more events. I love them. It's a fantastic alternative to questing. I would also add in a lot more underwater events.

4. Zip lines!!! I'm joking lol. Though you have to admit it would be a very cool way to travel across Tyria. 

 

 Thats just a few things. Honestly though thats pretty much all the changes I would make. I'm sure you guys found a lot more and I would love to read them.

Even though there's Asuran portals AND many, many waypoints, I still kinda want mounts. There's just something about an army riding into battle, all mounted, and then heading headfirst into an enemy army's backside that just gets my gamer blood going. Beyond that, I'm finding it hard to think of much.

I was kind of wondering why all classes don't get weapon swapping? I woiuld also like to see more events - of the fun kind. The rampaging minotaurs actually happened too often while the centaur invasions were too few. I really like the concept of the engineer - especially once I got into the mine fields and the grenades and want to try out the healing abilities also. I've got to pick two and no more than three to stick with or I will just confuse myself and do too much swapping. I'll probably play ranger since I like the personal challenge of finding all the pets and I have a deep fondness in my heart for a woman with a bow and an eagle as her pet (if I could just find a juvenile eagle - but I'll probably be engineer and elementalist as my two mains flinging bombs and raining meteors down on stuff is just too much fun.

Well the main reason why all classes can't have weapon swapping is that it could potentially overpower the engineer and elementalist, though with more emphasis on the elementalist. It would give them 40 weapon abilities to use in combat and the engineer would also be able to potentially use 25 abilities with the weapon kits. I also miss mounts, though I think a great way to implement them would be to have them laying around like the environmental weapons or the gathering nodes where everyone could pick them up and use them but they have limited charges/use. I wish for more events as well but I also wish for them to more fluidly intertwine with the other events, like failing the bandit event at the windmill in queensdale could potentially overrun bandits in adjacent events and more semi permanent consequences for those events...I hate always running into invincible minotaurs in the norn area. The other thing I wish is for the trait system to make more sense...Like some major traits and stats don't mesh well like power and boon duration going together that makes no sense. While I understand that they don't want to make it easy to create an uber build I just feel that everyone who specs into the top line does it for the power not at all for the boon duration. Also the minor traits don't seem important enough to give up a major trait for. I don't think anyone is going to have a build that has only 5, 15, or 25 points in a given trait line. Yep so that's my two cents. Other than that I think it's a fantastic game that quite successfully done away with dedicated tanks and healers and allows every class to play as close up or at a distance.

I would improve the visibility of the red warning circles for mobs bad stuff. If that is not enough to help folks get out mostly, then I would give a wee bit more time to react and get out of the way =D. Boss mobs would have more ranged attacks, and less up close attacks. I would change sword/dagger and dagger/dagger for thief so there is reason to use both that is not just looks or style. Currently the feeling seems to be that dagger/dagger rocks, and does everything that sword/dagger does, just better. I would include a /lfg tool for the various dungeons and other zone activities. Perhaps even an automatic group finder with teleport too the dungeon. Sorry folks, I would have none of the starter armor be of the revealing type. Not all my girls want to be showing their panties off, in fact most of them do not. Account bound dyes, not character. These are the first few that come to mind, and I'm a fan, maybe even too much of a fan.

Oh and I forgot one thing they have to change the instant mob respawn and aggro thing cause that seems to be the only way i get wiped.

anyway i would like to see in gw2 ofc mounts too but not retardet looking ones ,maybe later on bigger pvp maps,invasions just like in rift,more weapons ,when those invasions happen and the enemy conquers the place/castle whats so ever it should keep caputered for a while and it should have a negative effect on the envirment and of course for alot more content to come in the time after the release and ofc a hopefully soon release

Welcome Harbard! ... and Barren, That is kind of what I thought the reason was for them not having weapon swapping on them. The weapon kits for the Engineer are kind of like weapon swapping as it is - but it just takes a lot longer to get all of her weapons. I'm actually content with the Elementalist since she has so much as it is. Would still like the Engineer to have a melee skill set (even without weapon swapping) for those times I want to bash mobs up the side of the head - and hammer/shield or dual hammer would be awesome.

Combat was really clunky. I hope they fix that. It felt like LOTRO kinda. It was kinda boring soloing pve. I didn't really get too far. I have high hopes for some awesome PVP experiences with Gaiscioch though. As long as they do the PVP part of the game right, I can slog through some boring PVE or just rampage it with the guild.

I have to agree that mounts are very nice. Come to think of it. I believe GW1 and GW2 are the only mmo's that I've played that don't have mounts. Who knows maybe in an expansion pack some day. @ Llyren LOL @ "Sorry folks, I would have none of the starter armor be of the revealing type. Not all my girls want to be showing their panties off, in fact most of them do not." You know? I'm pretty sure the next step is those FCC black out rectangles, lol. I understand it has it's marketplace to certain adolescent boys but many times it's like " Whoa!! You think your leaving THIS castle to go fight monsters wearing THAT?!! Oh I think not young lady. You march right back up stairs and you put on some armor!! Or I'll take away your sword skills for a week!!" Yeah I'm a bit of an over protective dad at times ha ha. @Barren I really love the idea of flowing events across map areas. Fantastic idea. @Harbard Welcome to the family :) and yes I would love to wake up tomorrow and find the release date was this Friday. But on the other hand I'm going to be happy to get a finished product.

@Llyren Check out this pic I just found. Granted some of the cloth sets are still fairly skimpy, but there are some really neat ones that aren't. The Devout one is pretty appealing imo. Some lower level cloth sets

I would like to be able to dismiss ranger pets. There are times they are simply in the way. I would give rangers a (short range) animal tracking skill to help find tamable pets. I would add Skaven as a playable race. That's right I went there!

well on the pics from vampires bane i can verify the shaman set atleast cause i got the top and lower parts well the same skins atleast atlvl 24+ of em not the helmet though but very nice find vampiresbane

Thank gawd there are some decent clothes for the elementalist and necro - I hate fighting mobs while dressed like a waitress from a local strip club. :) Been there - done that - at 61 I don't need it again. Maybe too much info.... I will also admit riding into battle would be awesome - just like it was in WarHammer (awww the sounds of thundering hoofs and clanking armor) - but at the early levels I'm not missing it nor am I seeing the wide open areas that require it.

I agree the Engy's need a buff for PVE. PVP seemed decent with many tools to help the zerg. I did found the turrets lacking in PVE (died way to fast, IMO) and WvWvW, mostly staying with the nades. I think maybe that was because the battle lines flowed as they did. Overall after trying all of the classes I am sticking with the Engy. My only choice now would be the race.

Yup, there are later sets that are pretty nice. Had they made it so that Country or Velvet for example where the starter set rather then the Acolyte/Apprentice, then there would not be the panties hanging out complaint. Heck, they could of used the fluffy undergarments that tend to go with the ultra short skirted styles in the various "cute" dance videos.

I would love to have all our guilds in the same chat channel, or better yet everyone in the same guild. I am hoping the 100 player per guild limit is just for beta purposes.

I actually found myself not leveling fast enough. I got a level in WvWvW then completed exploring, found all way points, and completed all skill points on two maps and I was still 3 levels too low for the next zone. And I'm not one to rush a map. I take out everything along the way and participate in every event. I'm hoping they balance this as I do not want to have to go to other starting zones to grind levels. I also agree with the ability to easily dismiss my pet and account bound dyes.

Honestly, I never thought I would find something as fun as WAR. Overall a good BWE; not much to complain about. However, I would like to see the gem-store costumes wearable during combat in WvWvW. And, the Mystic Forge should accept the star-shaped pvp badges, as well as weapons, for conversion.

I would love to see minimum 10 man raiding as those of us who love to raid cannot in this game. That said the other positives outweigh the no raids so I am happy to play it for the pvp and pve questing as it is fantastic otherwise. Mounts would be really fun too.

I agree with Mijjah. They really need a bigger organization than just the 5 man parties just so leaders have less of a headache. Keeping 4 5 man parties together is a lot more difficult than a single 20 man raiding group that consists of 4 5 man parties. Sadly, it probably won't happen though. They have said next to nothing about having anything like that. Hopefully the squad system will make up for that; we'll see @Denvasslav, I agree. 100 guild member limit is just insane. It'll be good to know what the max actually is or will be.

Horses. Daoc didn't have horses until way later. And when we revisited people still didn't use them for rvr. Daoc was hands dow the best example of rvr and if they didn't have horses I'm not going to stress about gw2 having horses.

welll then how about some kind of guild transport carriage with 2 horses infront of it wich u can buy as the group leader and it carries a whole group faster through the map ofc it can be destroyed

Heh, I actually don't want mounts in this game. I also find no issues with the running around WvWvW without one. Only time it feels a tad annoying is when you have to actually respawn instead of being revived. My luck puts me on the opposite side of the map. LOL! Even so, I've had some fun adventures trying to find faster paths across the maps to regroup. But that's just me. =D I know the guild size has been stressed because we aren't the only large guild wanting to jump into this game. I'm hoping they come up with some idea that we can see in a beta before release. All depends on the programming and data accessing required with the setup, what they wind up with.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

One of the poscast's I listened to last week suggested Anet is working on the engineer so we'll see. Maybe they'll make progress by the next BWE. Mounts not being in the game isn't a huge thing especially in PvE. Now it could be useful and fun in WvW. It would be nice if people in your guild showed up on your map just like people in your party but as a different color dot.

Out of others suggestions so far... Account bound dyes....yea please. Slower mob respawns would be nice. Mounts....meh as long as I don't feel like getting from place to place takes forever on foot...don't really care. The first suggestion of not having a different running speed if you are in combat...I kinda like it the way it is...I was chasing someone during the beta caught up so them because they accidental aggroed something so unthinkable thats okay...just have to curb the homicidal tenancies. What I'd like to see is a little better scaling of the events....I was on early in the morning on a low pop server and not many players around...the boss mobs weren't really scaling down to be handled by a solo, or respawn rates were too fast and furious for one player. Saw the opposite also...events weren't scaling UP to handle more players in the area. I'd also like to see some better survivabilty for any 'melee' classes in pvp. warriors especially get wtfpwnd in pvp at least from what I saw. didn't play one and maybe the ones I saw didn't know what they were doing. But the biggest thing I'd change is putting some sort of nice glowing visual effect around a defeated player so that you could see him lying there as you are running by and go help the poor guy out. I got tells from people "hey can you come realize me you just ran right by me" and if you aren't looking at the minimap that points it out you don't notice it. Might also be helpful in those raid boss events where people are dropping...some times with everything that is going on its tough to catch that. That's my list anyway.
