Growing Pains & Our Website

Hey Everyone,

As if you haven't noticed our site has been dropping almost daily. This is mostly cause the way I built it didn't quite take into account the shear volume of people that will be using it. My Server Guy/Advisor and I are building out some new optimization tools that should help speed things up and stop the bottleneck that has been happening. It's going to take a bit to fix but I hope to have these issues and trouble spots fixed soon. I'll keep you all posted. I've disabled player profiles for now as thats one of the areas causing issues. Once I have the new tools in place i'll relaunch it. Thanks for understanding and please continue to be patient.

P.S. Go figure quering 75,000+ records to find a persons ID in a long string of id's several times on the same page doesn't work so well. Building new indexes to help speed the process up. But I also have to rewrite about 65 places that query those results. Time to play with some inner joins :D.

Foghladha First off thanks again for the guild invite...much appreciated. I hope to get involved more with the group when GW 2 is launched as this is the only game thus far, that I play and we support. As for the web site, you and your team have done a fantastic job. This is well thought out and easy to use. One suggestion as we grow and the forums are used more often, have section tabs for the various games as such: General Family Information-then all things pertaining to all members Rift-all GW 2-all etc, etc. This might allow people in the family to easily refer back to a particular post or section with ease. Also, a button at the top of the main forums page that effectively says New Posts, and auto allows you to view posts submitted from the last time you came into the forums to present, might be helpful as well. Welcome to the family Daingean. A new tavern is already in production. I just have to stop the server crashing issues (68 more script rewrites and I should be done) then I can finish it up as well as the battlegroup system. Still much work to be done. I do run a technology dept full time and have 3 side jobs as well so time is rather limited. Having my nights filled with leading events / focus groups eats up whatever is left and I need to make time for family. So gaiscioch site work is usually my lunch break. Realize what you see is 10 years worth of lunch breaks and weekends ;)
