For the younger folks in Gaiscioch and their parents...

I started reading this thread http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/38335-would-you-let-an-eight-year-old-play-gw2/  on GW2 Guru which led to me to http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=122918&highlight=wyll on the CoH forums.

Reminds me how great it is to be part of guild where we try pretty hard to make it a good place for gamers of all ages to hang out.  Granted a good portion of us are 30 or older, a lot of us do have our own kids in here.  I like being a part of this especially since I started my mmo "career" out at 9 or 10 with Ultima Online; I'd like to help make sure this guild is a good place for younger kids starting out like myself.

Note: Btw at some point I might create sort of a small team of folks, including myself, that help lead a small WvW band of really new players/young players.  I figure we'd rotate lead so the rest of us can help Ben or myself lead the big WvW push.  If you're interested be sure to message me using our Gaiscioch Mail.  This could even be a good way for really young kids to learn how to lead as well, if anyone wanted to do so (though we'd probably want kids a little older to do this considering it can be much, much more difficult and takes a lot more patience).

No idea. Ben might have a better idea. If a teenager wanted to help lead that beginner's group, I'd be fine with that as well. It really just takes the desire to do so (plus a good amount of patience for new players and some understanding of GW2 mechanics).

I think having groups led for the younger family members is a great idea. Sky and I have two boys, ages 6 and 9, who love to play Rift, and the 6-year-old loves to add his 2-cents to Vent whenever he can. I'd be up for helping lead some of these events, as it would help both of them learn how to play AND it would make them feel included. And, cough cough, they could talk on Vent with others who would be of their maturity level. (Look, Mom! I'm in the horse's butt!)

I also have 2 boys ages 12 and 9. I know the 12 yr old would LOVE this and I would be comfortable letting him do it. He is very interested in MMO's and I would trust you all. My 9 yr old is also interested in it but is super sensitive about his ability level and well you know how it can go when you can't play very well......anyway I think my kiddos would love it. I can't help lead though as we only have one PC which can handle MMO's.

Cpoche, Breely, and anyone else that is interested, let me know once GW2 is released what your kids' handles are (ie character names). Our guild mail system would work just fine if you need to get ahold of me. Cpoche, I'll mark you down as wanting to help lead. What I'll probably do after I go over this idea more thoroughly with Ben, is suggest we mix a few parents with some of our WvW leaders (myself, Tybor, Aisrine, Moreden) and take turns leading the young players/new players group. That way, kids and new players get better included and we help to build connections. Since a few of you guys have mentioned designing each group around the maturity level, I may suggest having one 5 man for young players and another 5 man with new players. Though Ben might suggest we just might mix the new players with the rest of us, but a group just for younger players could really work and be a lot of fun. I'm glad to hear we have an interest in this idea. Should be fun for everyone.
