At last, 600 gaming industry veterans are now available on the open market today. This can only mean good things for the gaming industry. The Giant has finally started to crack and the rest of the industry will benefit from it's shedding of a little itty bitty layer.

“the layoffs are predominantly from customer service. The automation of customer services — such as the reclaiming of compromised user accounts — led to a drastically increased efficiency of each customer service representative. Combined with the decrease in WoW subscribers, Blizzard found that their customer service manpower far exceeded demand” Very few development positions affected by the sounds of it.

Even if it's only 50 devs or artists, the knowledge gained in a company like that is priceless for small companies scratching at the barrier to give them an edge.

Oh please let one of those, that was laid off be Ghostcrawler (AKA Greg Street). I might actually play WoW again if they did. On the other hand I hope if he did get laid off, I REALLY hope arenanet or EA does not pick him up. In my honest opinion Arenanet and EA should send Greg a thank you note for ruining WoW and opening the doors for the millions they have made off his incompetence. Just an absolute horrible lead systems designer.(aka moron with a nerf and buff bat)

@Dell Lol, Ghostcrawler has a truly sorry track record for expressing himself in a personable manner, (a.k.a rotten bedside personality) but I'd never lay the blame at only his feet for the decline of WoW. Their design teams are huge and everyone pitches in with ideas. It doesn't help that they've got an axe hanging over every head there, thanks to Activision's 'Ferengi' type attitude towards profit before quality.

@Astraiel Yeah I guess he does make the easiest target. I do understand that he's not the sole hand on the nerf and buff bats. But still when he's the one posting it. One cant help but make him the target of your frustration. I suppose I should look at it like "Dont shoot the messenger" but he's not just the messenger. He's the boss of the team that decides the balancing changes to WoW. I honestly would not see him as a good addition to decisions being made for Rift, Star Wars or even GW2. But in truth I truly cant see him being brought in to replace any one. The people working on Rift, Star Wars and GW2 are doing such an incredible job. Why would they. I do see your point. I shouldn't place the blame on Greg Streets head alone.
