Hey Guys,
Noticed yesterday that I had 3 achievements for a game I don't have and also had my points emptied out. It seems FIFA 2012 allows you to trade players which can be bought using points from XBOX live via micro transactions. Essentially Gold Farming tactics on the XBOX. Hack 1 account sell everything / use everything then transfer to another account.
We'll I changed my password, put in an unauthorized use report to their CS department and have to wait 30 days before I have my credits restored. Decided to do a bit of leg work and it actually appears that EA Games use your XBOX login / pass to authenticate to their servers. In my case Need For Speed and Dragon Age. We'll after doing some research I found several threads over 60 pages long of others who have had the same thing happen to them in the past 2 months.
Digging a little deeper it seems that their was a data breach at EA and that user information "Might" have been stolen. I want to encourage all of my fellow XBOX users that if you have a game from EA that authenticates like DA DA2 etc. Please do yourself a favor and change your password / update your details today. I'd hate to have any of you have this headache thanks to EA once again. The part that irritates me is that EA ruled this off as a "Possible data breach" and didn't even warn it's users. Only warning I got was that my account has been used without my authorization. Thank God I didn't have my credit card attached to that account.
