I like giving all of my characters a little back story or even just "this is my goodie two shoes" and "this is my self righteous fanatic" and have a bunch lined up associated with different names which I reuse in many games depending on the "class" etc. All of my characters resemble me in one way or another.
When I was younger I started off with "playing me" and the older I get the more different I veer off and play radically different things. Also class wise, I always loved being the healer or some type of Archer or best - a combination of the two. But in the last 5 years I've been playing all types and discovered that I actually like all of it, heals, DPS, tank etc but my fav always end up to be gimpy hybrids lol.
ANYWAY (sorry I'm sitting at work, I tend to start ranting ^^)
The character I most identify with and is the most lieky me would be my first p&p character that I've ever created. I was 13 and she started out as goodie two shoes but got a revamp when I was 18 and turned into something else :)
Ilana Shar - started off as a hybrid archer/healer with a close connection to nature (can influence animals)
As the adventure moved progressed she got her left arm cut off. When that happened I was close to tears I'm playing a master archer ffs. She's useless now :( (all our characters were veteran level at this point and well established with their abilities/skill sets)
But after my initial downie feeling I got really pissed PFF and was like right. I ain't gonna lie down and take this.
That was the moment when my goodie two shoes started to get what some people may call corrupted and turned to the "shadow" (in the story we were playing it was a light vs dark theme happening, our characters got caught by the evils and tortured and broken and turned into "shadow walkers". Still on the side of good but walking a narrow line between light and dark)
I created new abilities which I had to level up and master. In this game there was no such thing called magic (there was magic but my bro didn't want to use the word duh).
So there was affiliation with the elements. Fire, water, air, nature and mind. People can only master one but may has a weaker secondary one.
Ilana primarily was mind followed by nature. Mind was considered dangerous as people could go crazy.
That is where she drew her healing powers from, but she twisted in. She could no longer use her bow, so her mind needed to become her weapon and oh boy, it did. I created the ability to suck the " life force" out of people and kill them that way. By doing that a dort if green plasma would leave their body which ilana either would breathe in yo heal and replenish herself or to create shields or strangle people to death etc.
And also a "mind shriek" that would leave people out of action.
Among other things. So our characters were sent into exile for 8years to recover from the torture and in that time I leveld my abilities. Ilana would use her affinity with nature to call animals to her to practise her new four d abilities. Namely squirrels, and "squirrel sucking" became a bit of a inside gag.
Many characters in the game didn't really trust her and would say "the shadow dwells deep" and were worried that she might become one of the evils eventually. Which she never did of course, she did serve the light council but she became scrupulous. She would do what was necessary to win the war and dropped a lot of her goodie two shoeness. I love her, because she became a incrediy gray character that was misunderstood and mistrusted by most and yet incredibly capable and good at her core. <- which is very much me. Ilana "grew up" as I did and it was a fun ride.
I wrote "Ilana's Tale" for another guild a few years back. I started rewriting it beginning of this year as.my English has gotten much better by now and I'd like to flesh it out a bit more :)
But since then I've made many characters, all of which I thoroghly enjoy but Ilana will always be my babie and my favorite of them all :)
PS: there will be a few typos, I'm fat fingerig on my phone and can't be bothered correcting stuffs :P
