We call it Wakey Cake because of the unusal ingredients to make a cake. Trust me you will love it!
Preheat oven to 325
Mix in a 8x8 ungreased pan.
1 c sugar
1 1/2 c flour
3 heaping tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
Make 3 wells in the dry ingredients and fill with the following:
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tbsp vinegar
5 Tbsp canola oil
Pour 1 cup warm water over the top and mix well.
Bake at 325 for about 35 mins or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

This "WHACKY" cake is close to the one my grandmother got from a friend and has passed along to us. The ingredients make a really dark moist cake (makes other cakes seem dry). Here's our version of nearly the same cake though with a bit more wet materials to it: For a 9x13 cake pan, greased. Halve the recipe for 8x8 pan. 3 cups flour 2 cups sugar 2/3 cup cocoa powder 1 teaspoon baking soda pinch of salt Mix dry ingredients and make three wells. Put each of the following three ingredients in its own well. 2/3 cup vegetable oil 4 tablespoons of vinegar 4 teaspoons vanilla Pour two cups of water over top. Mix thoroughly and pour into greased pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 minutes - until toothpick comes out clean.
