Rewards for people who Help out their guildies

I know we give tokens to event leaders who we thought did a good job leading an event and members of events gain points.  GSCH is known as a guild of people who help each other out and its not about rank but having a good old time.  What i was wondering is if we can have something in place (i don't know programing or web design so i don't know how much i am asking here regarding workload) for recognition or rewarding people who help out guildies who need the help.  It doesn't have to be anything that ranks you up or anything but like badges of honor that are represented here on our site.  As an example i was on my lowbie warrior trying to get a skill point and the mobs were spawning to quickly for me to get it once i killed a few.  I posted my frustration in gchat and was instantly asked if i would like help.  Mallyx, kalla, klitty and maybe one more (i can't remember if there was one more person because they left group to do an event in another area) all came instantly and we knocked it out fast and had a grand time.  I would liek to be able to come here and click their names and give token or something that recognized their embodiment of the gsch way.

Just a thought that maybe we can help recognize those who don't lead events but are always there helping out people who need it with a great attitude.  It makes all feel welcome in GSCH.

Just throwing it out there for food for thought.....

thanks

ahh..okay i think i see...go to the persons profile...there is a tab that says valor....on the right hand side at bottom is a section that has a way to leave a comment..then you can click a check box to give valor.  very cool.  hopefully this thread will make more people aware that we can do that for people who don't lead an event also.

thanks

yeah rag...that is why i think i was initially thinking of some new type of recognition.  there are good reasons why we do not give valor to those lower rank than you because it affects your position in the house.  I was thinking of maybe a new token (thats why i wrote in original post that i don't know how much work that would be).  The new token would be visible to all and able to be given to all.  make a requirement that you have to write what they did to earn it, like i did with my example.  It may be too much work and we will just do what izzy said and create a forum post thanking the people.

The reason why i am even bringing this up.....i played gw2 from launch with gsch (my anniversary date is sept 2nd).  about 4 months ago i stopped playing gw2 and started playing swtor.  Long story short i found out that there are no guilds like gsch.  playing in swtor, even in 3 different guilds, never had the same atmosphere.  even in an area if you ran into a hard situation asking in /gchat would receive silence or sorry i am busy.  I just started playing gw2 again 5ish days ago and know the reason i keep playing is mostly having to do with our guild.  The recent actions of members just hammered the point home and i wanted to see if we had any shinnies to give the people who help each other out even tho it was not an event and they were of a lower rank than me.

thanks for reading my rambling thoughts :)).

If you want to try and set something up thats cool , however being one of those that have for years in many games always went that extra mile , to help not just guildes but total random people , like the guy i spent 3 hours getting his corpse and never  even met him before or  total strangers  helping them  do epic quest  camps, etc .

The best reward for people like me can not be a shiny , cause the best reward is seeing them get that rare item they been after, or completing that  quest they couldn`t do etc .that feeling is worth more then all the shinies in game .

Regardless of whether a token of valor can be given, you can still place a comment under their valor section, where people will always be able to read the message you left about them. Its very possible that Fog may make tweaks to the system in place, but it is already there. Leave them a comment and people will be able to see that. I know that I've visited the valor section and read the comments on people that I constantly see around or play with. I've even gone back and read those on people that I never got the opportunity to, like with Oldroar. Just use the system available now and going forward, it may be fine-tuned to match the changing needs of the guild, as I'm sure it will because Fog always takes care of us and more. =3

aingeal, where is the valor section located at?  maybe i am missing it.  I clicked on Klitty's name (for example) and i don't see a valor tab at all.  I see profile and fellowship tabs but that is all.  Under profile is her family record and achievements and retinue. under fellowship all i see is a participation record.  I do see a valor tab for people above my rank as rag has stated but not for those of same rank or below.

a simple thank you would sufice for these people as they have already stated but it was just a thought i had.  Maybe we can make that valor tab available for all and just not the tokens aspect so i can just leave a note on their wall.  I dunno....not a huge deal either way.  I know that fog bleeds gsch...i think the man dreams in green (when he does actually sleep) and he does tons for this family.  I didn't intend to say anything was lacking in the site, just an "it would be cool if" kinda idea out there.

all this is moot anyway if i am just not finding the valor section for people and it is already there for lower ranked members :)).  i will just need directions to get there (don't tell my wife i asked for directions...she may get "ideas").

thanks

The valor tab only appears once the member has led a claimable event so that may hinder your comment giving from time to time :o
