I wanted to take a moment to let you know the progress of things. I am doing my best to balance my full-time career, family, and keep this here community rolling forward.
We've passed the tough months with PAX West, Extra Life, and the Community Conference back to back. These all take a LOT of time to prepare for. On top of those, we also decided to launch a new chapter in honor of Nona.
Now let me explain how chapters typically work. Typically we get involved in Alpha a year before launch and I begin drafting ideas for how to plug it into the site. At 6 months I begin building the tools to connect the game to the site and start getting all the code in place to handle it. It usually takes a good 6 months to get everything ready for launch.
Well the WOW Chapter was a bit of a surprise and largely revolved around Nona wanting to see it becoming a chapter in her lifetime. I pushed it through made the announcement and as we are in its 3rd month (First month since we decided to move it to a chapter) I am scrambling to get all the pieces in place.
All of my free time has been devoted to this and I have not had a chance to do much of anything outside work and well work for the past 4 months. My life right now is filled with an endless stream of programming and data analysis. I continue to maintain my event schedule as best as I can with a few cancellations sprinkled about due to one thing or another but for the most part, I'm holding it together and still managing to keep the family happy on the side.
Right now the greatest thing you could do for me is giving me space to concentrate and code as fast as my fingers can type. Trust me, I am fully aware things aren't 100% connected yet. I will get them there but I am trying to stuff 6 months of work into a small window. Right now I need your support in patience.
Aside from the WOW Chapter launch, I'm also moving forward with the marketplace rebuild and trading post system. I'm hoping that the advancement I'm making with the WOW Marketplace can roll over to GW2 and ESO and any game we move forward with the help streamline the process and cut a few hundred hours out of my workflow.
On the ESO side, I do need to build a new parse for ESO's roster as the last patch broke my old one. So the ESO roster is going to be staggering a bit until that gets done. If people login to the website it will also update their activity. I plan to tackle that as soon as I can. If there are any other mod developers that can help me build it that would be huge. I can give you the values I need. JSON format preferred.
All in all things are going reasonably well. I'm a bit overworked atm and having a hard time keeping up with the title wave I feel bearing down on me. There's a lot to do and I just need time to do it.
Project list:
- WOW Marketplace
- WOW Character Editing
- WOW Addition to Hamburger Menu
- WOW Added to Member Profile & Settings
- ESO New Parser Addon to replace the old one that broke with the last patch.
- ESO Marketplace improvements
- Trading Post - User Posted Items for Contribution
- New Marketplace Rebuild - Will introduce self-scaling prices over time. So as the Max Player Level and Crafting level increases values decrease to prevent items from growing too expensive and rewarding more than intended.
- Family Tree Page rebuild - Better Search Capabilities Inc.
