For those hunting that pretty red dye as an alternative to the Emperor red most of us will never see ;)
After reading up on this achievement and spending several days hunting it, I can confirm the below outline of the General's that appear in specific zones is accurate. Basically every four General's are grouped to a zone starting in the second zone.
As a side note while farming this you will make friends at the dolmens and can compare notes. Below is what most were able to confirm:
- Most hunting this can confirm at right around the 225 to 275 anchor mark you should acquire all of the General's if you are farming zone by zone. The good news is you are working on your Anchor Devastator (250 anchors) simultaneously.
- Don't farm in the Vet levels as the generals that spawn are random from the 16 possible bosses. You have a better chance farming for missing general's zone by zone.
- You can work on your Chainbreaker (100 anchor pinions) achievement as well. Just make sure to tag 1 pinion each time and you will acquire prior to the other achievements.
- Most seem to believe the 4th general listed for each zone is a "rare boss". I can say that 3 out of the 4 zones the 4th general took a great deal of time for me to acquire. I noticed multiple spawns of the 1st and 2nd general listed for that zone in a period of 2 to 4 hour farming sessions.
- Most believe that the spawn rate for a general is about 10%. I can advise that with 3 dolmens per zone on average I noticed a general spawn about every 6 to 8 dolmens. So I'm not sure how accurate the 10% number is. But I know I did not destroy enough anchors to say I had a statistically valid sample either.
- A General will spawn even if you are soloing the dolmen.
- It is faster to complete a Dolmen solo as it takes less souls to fill the anchor pinion. As more people join, it will scale up.
- As a courtesy if you already completed the chainbreaker achievement allow those who show up to claim the anchor pinions. You will find most may be courteous as well and only tag one of the anchors and then wait for you to grab. I generally advise in say to take them all. Everyone wins here as they get to their achievement faster :)
When farming a zone move in a clock wise fashion from dolmen to dolmen. If others are farming you will find they move in the same pattern and this will keep the pattern of spawn in synch with the group and help with faster progression. Generally there will be one dolmen that takes a bit longer to spawn as all timers are resetting.
There are 16 bosses, each 4 bosses per zone, starting from second.
