Greetings Family!
As many of you know from guild chat, I enjoy leading groups on the daily undaunted pledges. As my Templar tank has progressed in levels (VR10), I am shifting more and more towards the vet versions of dungeons. I am close to VR11 and will probably push towards 14 this weekend. What I am looking for is interest in running higher level vet dungeons and Dragon Star Arena (DSA).
First off, a plea to the coolness of these dungeons and the fun they really are. I think most people have experience at least one regular dungeon in their ESO adventures. The vet dungeons do a good job, at least I think so, of stepping up the challenge. The item rewards for these dungeons are really quite nice. For those unaware, here is a nice link to set pieces. Click on the "Monster Helm Sets" button to show the new vet dungeon sets. As you can see, these sets are really pretty cool! Not only do they look neat, they have great and unique bonuses. In addition, completing these dungeons and killing the bosses really gives a nice sense of accomplishment. I remember the first time I killed the second boss in Fungal Grotto, Bris and Syn were there. It took us probably about 20 tries, but when we finally downed her it was a real sense of satisfaction.
"But I am not a min/maxer / I don't play the cookie cutter spec." People are often nervous because they are playing their characters how they want and aren't conforming with the current meta. If you have run with me in the past you know that I really don't care about all that. Just like you, I am here to have fun. I will not tell you that you are playing wrong or need to change your spec. That being said, I have no problem helping you out if you think there is an area you could improve upon. Things like stat allocation become important for the vet dungeons (General rule of thumb is at least 2200 HP in vet dungeons, 3100 for tank). In the end, if you want to heal as a DK and tank as a sorc, go right ahead. Another factor is time. These runs generally take awhile. Sometimes we don't finish. While it can be disappointing to not finish, it isn't the end of the world. I have no problem going slow and explaining things as we move along in the dungeon (it does help if you are in RC at least because I am not a good typist while playing). Heck, even if you are just curious about running a dungeon but what to go over gear or skills that are useful or mechanics, just ask in game. More and more of us are running these and are glad to help.
Now, onto DSA. As I approach VR14 I am eying DSA. I would really like to start testing my mettle in there. For those of you not sure what DSA is, it is the top tier 4 man content. It is a gladiator type dungeon consisting of 10 waves of increasing difficulty. I would like to start running these as a learning experience. I say learning, because I know full well I will not complete it until after several tries. Really my goal is just to incrementally complete it. Start off on clearing the first wave, then have a discussion on tactics. Things that worked, things that didn't work. How we could improve communication. Again, this is not going to be a speed thing. I have no dreams of getting on the leader boards for top DSA times. My goal is to progressively improve and master each stage, and ultimately get a full clear time in 90-120 minutes. I think that is pretty doable.
Anyways, enough rambling on and trying to recruit more people for dungeons. I know 1.6 is going to be on PTS soon and many of us will be spending alot of time over there, but we can also do these things on the PTS and provide feedback. For any interested, here are my go-to guides for all the vet dungeons as well as a DSA guide. I think think they are some of the best written dungeon guides out there and always have them up on my second monitor while running a dungeon. Vet Dungeon and DSA Guides
Oh, and as a side not I am an east coast player (rare in the family I know). I generally start most my runs around 6-7 EST, or 3-4 PST. Hope to see some interest and I look forward to running more and more dungeons with you all!
