First - everyone was awesome last night - We finally got the right side figured out and the left  side got their bosses down - the horn was blown twice and we met the Warrior. So lets continue building and the Warrior will be the next one down.

When we first encounter a new boss and instructions are given on how to fight the boss and what the mechanics are and that there will be ground aoe, he will throw puppies in stage 3 and yu must pet them, and he will turn into a skyscraper and you need to do the hokeypokey all but the list step, and then you need to move to the left side and then the back side and while doing this you must stay out of the aoes. Ok so we have heard the fight now lets see it and we die - i stayed out of the aoe but forgot the hokey pokey.  Someone went left instead of back. You get my point here.

I know some people get tired of hearing me say, this is the first time some of the group has seen this boss, or been in this trial - once we get a group where most of us have seen the bosses then I will no longer have to say that.

Thanks to everyone who helped teach us about the last boss.

Things we need to remember:

#1 stay out of the ground aoe - I finally figured out what one the warrior ground aoe look likes - one is a red runway the other is a donut - the center is where he is going to jump

#2 we need to work on calling out when we die and calling out who is doing the rezzing. Also be patient if you die we will try and get you.

# 3 we need to assign one person to call out nova, when to get to the center, when adds pops. Also is there a pattern to the adds popping. Think I will go watch another video.

We did great guys we will get the Warrior next week.

Please add your comments.

Great job everyone, last night! I wasn't in the group but had the pleasure to listen in and I am very proud of everyone! That was awesome!

Just wanted to re-state one thing that already been said but is important to remember:

It doesn't matter if you are just learning it or have been running it for months, there is always someone calling the moves, calling the aoe #s, calling the bosses attacks.  It is done that way for the single purpose of helping everyone work as a unit and stay on the same page.

Keep up the good work!

I'd like to nominate Terra to give the "pre-boss" briefing, I found his explanation to be clear and succinct.  When others (including me) give the brief, we try to cover everything plus...it tends to go long and the primary mechanics can get lost in all the information provided.

We did such a great job on Sunday! I can't wait to get back in there and lay the smack down on Warrior.

I also want to toss out a few thoughts –

I know that we have a large number of people in the guild who are casual players and may not have any extended experience with end game dungeons and their challenges. We have also had a number of people who have been discouraged by the sometimes non-existent progress made through Hel Ra, and as a long time gamer, I really just need to say something.

Most raid groups, especially end game adventurers, have the advantage of learning a fight step by step, figuring out the first phase dynamic, sometimes through brutal deaths until you have it down and are able to repeatedly move onto the next phase and the next phase until you know the entire fight – even then you are likely to die a lot before you have it down pat. With the ress limit presented by Hel Ra, we completely lose that advantage without having a full dungeon reset. This is a huge disadvantage and is one of the reasons why trials are so difficult.

Facing this disadvantage, with the casual gaming atmosphere that our family is known for, it is a big deal that we have made it as far as we have and it says a lot about our group and our leadership that we continue to progress.

I personally have a hard time understanding the mechanics of a fight until I have seen it in action - knowing that Ra Kotu has an X patterned sword assault is different than seeing it. I think a lot of our group is the same way and that one vital tool for overcoming the limited ress issue is going to be taking the time, outside of the event block, to watch the videos. Seeing it is still completely different from doing it, but it can help lessen some of the confusion and it will help make the fight descriptions sound a little less like a foreign language spoken too fast.

I can't wait for next weekend!!
