Yes, Kitty finally overcame the procrastination monster and downloaded this game. I had many questions answered by our lovely team on Raidcall.

I still got more questions and need more help, so I'm posting here because it's easy to share ideas. I also did some AVA last night and I got even more questions! :D

How do I get more skillpoints? I noticed that I couldn't get enough points to all the shiny things and powers I wanted. Also, what's a good healer/support/meatshield build for a Khajiit templar? I want something like a shout commando guardian from Guild Wars 2. Lots of heals but that can hold his own in a battle in AvA, because the gankers ate my character like a croissant filled with ham and cheese.

Dramatization!

Thank you for your time and your responses!

Cya in game!!

Kitty.

I was so happy to see you back in the game - was a joyful occasion. :)

For every 3 skyshards you collect you get one skill point - so find them all - collect them all!  If you didn't do the Bleakrock isle quests - head over there - there are three skyshards on that isle - then 3 more in the adjacent zone when you first leave the island.   After that there are like 16 skyshards in every zone and here is a link I use to find them.   Even if I don't complete all the quests in an area I do find all skyshards.  If you look in your journal - achievements - skyshards, you can see what skyshards you have missed in a particular zone.

It is not totally accurate since they have moved a few of them but if you ask in game I'm sure that someone will know where they are.  I have yet to find a dungeon that is marked on the map that doesn't have one buried inside and the group dungeons sometimes put them just outside the entrance but usually hidden on a hill.

You also get skill points from some of the main story quests and when you do the Harborage Quests.

I can't help you with the Templar build - I don't play one.  A lot has changed when they redid a lot of skills with the commencement of the Free Sub stuff - so a lot of the old builds listed on the forums have changed - but I'm sure someone here has an idea or two ;)

And if you are one vs. 3+ in AvA - they will always win.   If you are running with a group - stay with the pack since stragglers will die quick.

All I have for the moment - safe journey and glad to have you back!

Other skillpoints:  Group public dungeon group challenge bosses.

Refined details:  The main story line of each zone has ~3 skill points to offer you.  You can look them up by looking for the quests required to 'complete Cadwell's Silver or Cadwell's Gold.'  Since each faction runs the other faction's quests in those cases, the zone main story is the new objectives.  (I think there are lists out there for this.)
About half of the skyshards will be in delves.  These are the little public dungeon things that aren't the big group one in each zone.  The other half tend to be outside.

As for builds, I stand by my statement that you build whatever you like.  If you want to absorb more damage, wear a little heavier armor or use healing and damage absorbing abilities.  If you are throwing out healing, then you want more magicka and spell stuff to get more effectiveness... but a little heavy armor won't hurt a ton.  I also do not know the Templar skills very well, but would suggest that they could be effectively mixed with just about anything you want to do (most class skills start magic based, so you may need to see what morphs to a stamina basis if you decide on a stamina build.)

I also stand by what Jairone says - "Build what you want".  AND - nice "refined details" Jairone...

I have a Nightblade that I call my Nightmancer since she is a total caster using Destro staff and the Dots from siphon line as well as Shade and fear as well as the Reaper's mark so she sucks the life from her last kill and survives groups of 4-5 equal level mobs while wearing full light armor and all points in magika and I WOULD never recommend her to anyone else...  she has to grow on you and you need a specific playstyle for her - not your Typical NB.

But in this case Kitty wants some help with a build for a healing Templar so I hope someone can give her suggestions.   Either here or in game if you see her on.  I would, but Templars aren't my gig.  :)
