okay so I normally get pretty heavily involved in crafting only to be crushed at end game when it becomes totally useless.

The stuff I have seen seems to indicate that crafting will have a place in end game so my fingers are all crossed it is so :D and the boss types drop crafting mats to make the best items rather than the items themselves

I am probably going to play a Templar (though the Dragon Knight is still a bit intriguing) with heavy armour and become a Master Blacksmith as in everything selected

Anyone else in the Aussie timezone interesting in a chat to ensure we have all six crafting skills covered fully for when our US Colleagues are asleep :D

Crafting mats don't drop from mobs directly accept for hides from animals for the leatherworking side of clothier.  They are mostly from harvestable nodes at the appropriate level to where you are playing for everything.  Provisioning will find its materials from lootable crates, barrels, bags, etc that you can interact with.

How you get crafting mats from loot is deconstructiong the gear drops you get.  This is also the fastest way to level woodworking, blacksmithing and clothier.

You can work your way up by spending skill points in your craft of choice to be able to do even the top level end game gear.

There are also upgrade items you get in the process of deconstructing things, sometimes in loot (rare), and via your hireling.  These upgrade items allow you to upgrade from white to green, green to blue, etc as long as you have enough of the right upgrade element to make your chances good.

So its best to work out how we are going to share the items we are not going to use to help our fellow crafters - directly to those we know can use, just by letting first come first served get it out of the guild bank, or just pass on to those in the group at the time.  Including handing over various loot items that might have a trait on them that you haven't researched yet.  Every item you make can have one trait added, but you first have to research an item with that trait in order to make it.

Crafting in this game is pretty cool and is not simple cookie cutter where you learn recipes automatically at a given level.  Even provisioners need to find recipes before they can cook.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

provisioning allows you to create food and drink that provide stat bonuses.

Provisioning is more useful for longer boosts like +40 Magicka for 35 min (Example) alchemy will give you short boosts like a health/mana pots, weapon crit and other quick bar stuff. And your horse has different stuff just for them you feed your horse every 24 hours you can improve stamina, health etc etc for speed and run duration.

I levelled provisioning a bit. I thought the buff was decent from eating food... although food and drink didn't appear to stack. It was much like food in GW2. Probably something you'd want to have up all the time?

I'm going to go with a Templar healer or a Nightblade as my first character. Still having trouble deciding. Either way, first craft will be clothier.

I'm also guessing that Gaischioch will have an ESO section on our site's marketplace? Which would be a good way to provide other crafters with mats you might have, but don't need. Unless you wanted a profit, in which case I guess guild store or trading in chat are going to be your options.

I'm looking forward to crafting as well. I'll probably go the clothing route, although I want to wear a combination of Light and Heavy armor. I'll probably do Alchemy as well, because I like having potions.

I am certainly not on Aussie time but I would be happy to work with you.  I plan to spend the first month on crafting.  We will have a lot of members heading straight for PVP and I for one want to be sure they are geared to the hilt!

I'm new to the family and forgive me if I'm suggesting the obvious but would it be worthwhile to coordinate crafters pre-launch, or would this be better done after a few weeks/months and everyone had the chance to settle down into what they wanted then information posted on what professions are needed?

OOOR will our numbers be so large that everything will be covered? :P
