A short beginner's guide from what I learned after I got to level 50 to keep progressing your characters gear and leveling up. This does not include what you can do with the various life skills and alternate play styles which are legit. It’s YOUR sandbox!

So Fresh and So 50

(This guide assumes you have basic knowledge of the game systems if you're not comfortable with that yet I highly recommend Hakari’s youtube Channel)

When you put your mind to it, it really doesn’t take that long to get to level 50. But don’t get intimidated and run to the safety of a low level alt when there is so much more content to be had & new lands to explore! Get hyped for your awakening weapon which you only get to play with after level 55! (Future Update)

Bosses and Summon Scrolls

Tip: Level 1 and quest scrolls can be done solo depending on gear. A buddy will make it go super fast.

Tip: You can click on the scroll and it will give you a map marker where the boss needs to be summoned. Don't be scared.

Scroll Group Edicate- When joining a scroll group it is often asked/ assumed that all members of the group have the same amount of scrolls to maximize everyone's chances to get drops. You will need to do a turn in to your spirit after each of your summons to do the next one. Try to wait to open the rewards until the group is done. The rewards are likely to make your body heavy if you are doing more than 3 summons each. You may want to bring a wagon.

  • Weekly Boss - Black Spirit- This will be a quest to kill 100 of a certain type of mob. Once you complete the quest and get the summon scroll, you will want a group to help kill it. The quest cooldown starts on the day you complete the quest, not when you kill the boss.
  • Daily Boss- Black Spirit - This will be a short quest to kill 20 or 30 mobs and the reward will be a boss summon. These bosses can drop a few blackstones each. You do not need to feel rushed to kill the boss, they take a week to expire, as well. You can duo these if you can't get a full group.

  • Field Bosses- Open World- You will see people announced these in server chat often with a health percentage and channel location. They can take 15 min or longer to kill and spawn in the same location you would summon them. Anyone can tag them and receive loot. Bring health pots! They do a lot of damage and you have to do damage to them to get a loot roll.

Daily/ Hourly/ Repeatable Quests

I’m not going to go into how to get more contribution points. There are many dailies in Calpheon. There are many good written and video guides on the topic.

Tip: Investing in the nodes where your dailies take place is a good idea. 1 level won't do much but it starts to get really noticeable at level 4 The max node level is 10 which will give +50% increased drop rate. Fill all your character slots and use your alts energy too!

Tip: Your knowledge on a mob will dictate how fast you kill them and also your drop rates. It pays to reset your knowledge to try to get a higher rank. You can do so in the library in Calpheon.

C lets you see the health.

B gives you more protection against the mob.

A  gives extra damage against that mob.

A+, not sure, same as A?

S gives you additional loot drops.

  • Seal/Token of Promise - Repeatable - To start collecting Tokens, you'll need to do a chain quest that starts at the Calpheon warehouse (Big Troll). The actual dailies will come from an Asura looking Jewler named Bianstimi. These accessories can be quite good when upgraded.

Tip: You have to un-equip your piece when talking to the npc to get your upgrade otherwise you will not see the option to do so.

Abandoned Monastery Exchanges:
Ring of Dim Magical Power: 3 Tokens of Promise
Ring of Concentrated Magical Power: 5 Tokens of Promise + Ring of Dim Magical Power
Ring of Sealed Magical Power: 10 Tokens of Promise + Ring of Concentrated Magical Power

Hexe Sanctuary Exchanges:
Earring of Dim Magical Power: 3 Tokens of Promise
Earring of Concentrated Magical Power: 5 Tokens of Promise + Earring of Dim Magical Power
Earring of Sealed Magical Power: 10 Tokens of Promise + Earring of Concentrated Magical Power

  • Hunter Seal - Daily - You can turn these in for blackstones in Keplan at a rate of 2 for an armor stone and 3 for a weapon stone. These tokens are dropped by bosses and received daily from 4 quests total: one is given by the black spirit to kill 100 of a certain type of mob, the other three are done in Mediah after doing some pre-requisite quests.

The Daily Grind

Tip: When your gear is about 100/100 AP/DP or are in a group start to explore Media, as the exp rates there are much higher. The foundry has a great grinding guide with drops listed on it.

  • Gear Grinding- Depending on the set/weapons you use, once you get those dailies out of the way, you want to farm up armor/weapons or money to repair durability on your gear. You'll want to farm some level-appropriate mobs for blackstones. Think of that weapon repair as part of the upgrade then it’s not so big of a deal.

PVP

While limited for the time being there will be many more options in the future to be excited about. Like Node Wars/ Siege/ 3v3 and instanced pvp.

Tip: If you hit esc then adjust ui, you can toggle a little area to the left of your health bar. After it is toggled visible you can flag up for pvp by clicking the icon once you are lvl 40 or above. You are vulnerable to attack starting at level 40 whether or not it is toggled on.

  • Open World- PK- If someone attacks and kills you while your PvP mode is switched off he will receive special karma points for this. A player gets 5000 karma points for each PK. If your karma is high you will be attacked by guards and other players even in peaceful areas where normal PvP is not allowed. There are other negative effects as well. If your pvp mode is switched on it is consensual.
  • Open World- Arena- Outside of major cities there are arenas where you can kill each other silly without any negative effects. Great for practice.
  • Red Battlefield- Instanced-  You can participate in with the help of your Black Spirit from anywhere and anytime if you are over level 50. You do not have any death penalty on this special Battlefield. If you defeat enemy players continuously, a message praising your achievement will be displayed. Normally the position of enemy players are displayed on world map, and if a character achieves 5 continuous / 10 continuous kills, that player will be displayed on world map as a leading character. It’s like a huge area where 2 Teams fight against each other.

You guys can help me proff this guide. I’m really new and just trying to help other new people with my research. Let me know if I should add anything. See you all at 50+!

Thanks for sharing this info, Foxfyer!  There's a lot of information here!  I still have a ways to go, but I can see this will come in handy when I get there!

Very well written. Thank you.

I'm also closing in on 50. The XP bonus they are giving us until June 1st will help immensely with the prime level and with all our life skill levels. Looks like having some good cooks in the family to hand out food - one of the few tradable things, and to help with pots will be good. Also, we do have to BUILD stuff for node wars and the way this game is so integrated skill will probably help it go faster and better. I've looked at the pdf on that, but yeah it is based on a mix of info and I'll be waiting to see how it REALLY works for NA/EU on the 15th with info straight from the designers.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D
