Possible Alliance with TOG

Hey guys. I noticed some TOG members (The Older Gamers) running around on our server. I've been a member of TOG since 2012, where I was an officer in their Tera guild. They are sorta set up like our Social Adventures, and have a presence in most games out there, and require all members be 25+. TOG as a whole has several thousands members, and usually are a good group of people. I mention this, as I thought they could be a good ally on the server. I'm asking here to get some thoughts on it. If you're interested in pursuing this alliance,  I'll contact the those in charge of the BDO Chapter and put them in contact with the appropriate people in our guild. 

Let me know your thoughts. 

I haven't even seen them in our channel. Are you sure they are haunting Calpheon 2? Granted we could always arrange a move to where ever.

I've seen them all over Velia last night. They are going by The Older Gamer in this game. 

Also I talked to one of them last night as well.

I am in favor of alliances with any decent folk, myself.
As for whether or not they have been in our base channel, it really doesn't matter, if I understand correctly. Depending on our goals for capturing a node or castle, we will have to change channels anyhow when conquest opens up.

Plus we can swap channel at will. The server should be the only thing that matters, right?

Well, if you're wondering if there's anything in our family's policy or credo that would affect an alliance, then no, there's really not.  For example, we ally with guilds in GW2 that are not parallel to our credo.

That being said, if we were contacted by a guild of players who focused on griefing, hacking and general asshattery, then no... we would not consider an alliance with that type of guild.  I put up with with several of those in Archeage and some did come to BDO, but I'm not sure of which server.

Their one of the groups ive Always respected. I would say lets persue this. Them and OTG have been great fun to play with and against over the years.

Griefing would not be allowed by TOG leadership Sekkerhund, so no worries there. They have a great reputation in the gaming community.

Thanks Fog, I also play with OTG in games if GSCH (1st choice) or TOG (2nd choice) don't have a presence. I'll check with the BDO division then and put them in touch with Fog, Bri, or Esca and will update here If I hear anything.

Yeah, these guys are a fun group. I know they are definitely in a lot of games and remember them in GW2 a lot. Too bad ESO does not have tags or I bet I would have found them by now for whatever group got hanging out there. I never joined up with them due to keeping myself busy with this family and more so as an elder. ;)

To be honest I haven't discussed plans for territories or node control within TOG as we are still in the initial phase of recruitment. I will bring your message to the attention of my staff and get back to you when we have a stronger position on the matter.

The Older Gamer guild is expected to get close to the guild member limit at this stage. I am also seeing a number of our veteran TOG members crossing over from other games like Archeage and Guild Wars.

Division Captain for Black Desert Online

Yea, well OTG's Archeage group gave me good reason to reconsider my favorable opinion of them.  Maybe it was the lax leadership they seemed to have there, plus the toxic environment, I don't know.

TOG had an Archeage group?  Hm... I don't think they played on Tahyang, but if they did they were very quiet.  Which is good.  Also, I saw one of their members today, their tag said TheOlderGamers ... so is that the same group of folks? 

Also, just to clarify, I was not questioning their values or behavior, I was just generalizing the toxic type of guild that we would steer clear of.  That guild (forget name atm) that said they would KOS all RPers, is a perfect example.

Yes TOG is the gaming tag for The Older Gamers.

I hate to say it but I found a large group of them KS'in in BDO the other day. After reading this thread I decided to wipe the mental slate clean and give them another objective free opinion. I was out grinding and another one of them started trying to KS me.. Well I won that battle but it was not for the lack of me trying to communicate or to inviite them to my party. 

Keep in mind these were not officers or GL these were members so I still will have to hold off opinions until I can talk to their officers and members but so far there isn't much good here for first impressions.

That's very disappointing to hear. TOG is a very large community, with each division(game) having a Division captain in charge of the game and  a Guild Leader and Officers below them. I obviously don't know everyone (or even a fraction) in TOG but my experience as an officer for the TERA division, and members in a few other divisions have been positive. I've made several long term friends and several people I knew from TOG have joined GSCH.

If this division is full of jerks however, I would advise we stay away from them. There is a reason I choose to play with GSCH anytime I have the choice, and that's because we have a concept of family, and values. TOG does have rules and guidelines, but nothing on our level of excellence. 

I would suggest reporting bad behavior to TOG leadership, this shouldn't be acceptable.  If the leadership isn't responsive, then it's a toxic division. 

I have started to open communication to several of the guilds in the server. I'll reach out to them and see if they are willing to talk and possible be apart of our community of friends. Since my last post I've tried a few more times to invite them to party and to grind with and to party up and have been meet with denials and in one case a rude retort. Then the user proceeded to try and KS me and force me to kill their mobs while telling me "thank you", which at the time felt more like a stab than anything.

Sounds like a bunch of jerks in the division. This saddens me, especially after singing their praise.
