Over the past week, Gaiscioch has been diving into the month-long beta for Warborne: Above Ashes, an exciting new endless warfare MMORPG that strikes a unique balance between PvE and PvP. At its core, the game feels very much like the classic RvR lakes from Dark Age of Camelot — but with six realms battling for dominance instead of three. It's a fresh and engaging take on large-scale warfare that's been a lot of fun to explore.
Leveling in Warborne is smooth and accessible, with a wealth of content to discover. As you venture out from the initial safe zones, you'll encounter even more dynamic content like random encounters, rift events, and world bosses. I was also pleasantly surprised to see NPCs disguised as "hostile players" in the starter areas, helping prepare new players for real invader encounters — thankfully, they're pretty easy to take down.
As far as PvP-focused games go, Warborne opts for a simplified combat system that feels closer to a MOBA than a traditional MMO. Battles are slower-paced and longer, giving you time to adapt and strategize against enemy players. In the warzones, battles can involve hundreds of players and continue 24/7, with an overall realm winner announced every 30 days.
The guild system is another highlight, offering a robust set of features and unlocks as guilds level up. Guild XP appears to be earned by completing quests and grouping with fellow guildmates. Currently, the initial guild cap is 150 members, though it’s unclear if that expands at higher levels.
I’d love to see more of us jump in! If you're interested, head over to Warborne: Above Ashes on Steam and request access — it grants immediately. Then, join us on the Sec Darktide: Ashvara server, choose the Emberwild (Green) faction, and send a request to join Gaiscioch. Don’t forget to enable the Warborne role under "Channels and Roles" on our Discord so you can stay in the loop!
