We're almost through the rough part! Soon you'll be out and about (still practicing social distancing). While this epidemic has been terrible in so many ways, I feel it was also good to put things in perspective and reunite so many of us. The past 2 months we've shared a flood of returning members rekindling those relationships we created over the years. I feel we, as a world, will come out of this closer than when we went into it. Sometimes we take things for granted when they're easy. A difficult time can really shift our perspective and help us realize what's truly important.

Regardless this past month we've seen a continuous rise in population and we expect this will continue into the fall as we ramp up for the launch of New World, Ashes of Creation, and a handful of new adventures. Let's jump into some news!

Gaiscioch Discord Gets Role Synchronization & Improvements

A new feature I managed to put together over the past month allows you to link your Discord account to Gaiscioch.com so that I can run a macro script that assigns each of you your Gaiscioch Role in Discord matching your Gaiscioch.com Role.

Now to clarify there are 2 ranks per role in our community so not all 12 ranks will be there. The roles are New Member, Member, Veteran Member, Guardian, Warlord, and Legend.

To Sync your Discord account login to Gaiscioch.com and on the homepage you will see a "Connect" button next to discord on the left side mini profile. Simply click that, and the site will redirect you to discord to gain your permission to link your account.

You Want More Technical Information?
The reason we need you to sync your account is that Discord’s API runs off your Discord ID not your Discord Name. I can't use the Foghladha#6138 Name, I need the ID 713430072777768980 to be able to sync your role via the API. To do this we use the API to ask Discord to send us your ID. This ID is publically available and in no way can compromise your account. It's what actually happens in discord when someone mentions you. To discord it looks like <@713430072777768980>. This is largely because people can change their names. You can't change your ID. So by granting us access to this I can run a macro our website provides to promote everyone.

Discord Setup Changes

Now that we have our official roles in discord syncing up I have begun reorganizing our discord to show or hide channels based on your rank. In addition I moved the News channels behind the News Role which you can enable in #getting-started. By toggling this you will see the gaming news area with game deals, and news that's affecting our Community. I recommend everyone enable it but wanted to make it optional.

I've also added a Ranks and Roles channel to explain how to sync your Gaiscioch.com account with Discord and provide you an easy reference to what each community rank equates to in our roles.

All members on discord will receive the Tuatha tag which replaces our old member tag. Tuatha means Tribe and all who join us in our discord shall be treated as such.

Quest for Tier 3 Discord Server

We've been teetering so close to having a Tier 3 Discord Server for the better part of a year. If we can hit Tier 3 we can gain access to:

• +100 server emoji slots (for a total of 250)
• 384 Kbps audio quality
• Vanity URL for the server
• 100 MB upload limit for all members

The most important piece of this is the Vanity URL for the server. This will allow us to use discord.gg/gaiscioch in all our community events to drop them directly into our discord. As of right now we have 18/30 Boosts required. Thanks to some very kind souls we managed to gain our Tier 2 status back after I had to cut back my 10 to only 6. All Discord Nitro Subscribers gain 2 free boosts per month and have a discounted price of $3.49 each per month for each additional boost. Non-Nitro Subscribers can boost our server for $4.99 per month. If we can find 12 more boosts in our community we can finally hit our goal of Tier 3.

Want to give a special shout-out to those members who are helping enable our community to do great things. Their financial support has allowed us to expand the tools at our disposal and maintain the community without burning a hole in my personal savings. While a still do pay a bit out of pocket their contributions have prevented me from having to work side gigs to keep us afloat and for that, I am eternally grateful. It's at a manageable level I am comfortable with. Without these Patreons, you'd be seeing a lot less of me. Thank you for keeping me in-game and focused on growing our community.

Foghladha Status Update

I wanted to take a moment to say thanks to everyone for helping me through his troubling time. As many know I've gone through a bit of financial hardship over the past couple months due to COVID-19 and things were looking pretty grim. Thanks to our Patreons, twitch subscribers, and a few donations I've managed to cover 100% of the costs of operations so far allowing me to focus what little money I have coming in on keeping the house. I'm not out of the woods yet but I am so very thankful to all of you who have helped out financially or emotionally. It's great to have a bright shiny place to come to when I'm feeling defeated. Thanks everyone for being awesome to me and being a truly loving family I can turn to when I need help. Hopefully soon things will go back to normal.

I wanted to take a moment to say congratulations to a few members this month for accepting their next credo and stepping into a new role in our family.

Guardians (Seaimpín)

The Gaiscioch Family Guardians are an advanced part of the Veteran Members group and serve as the front line of our family. They help newer members learn about the family, our website, and our belief system. They occasionally will need to help get conversations back on track, or report misdoing's to the family elders. They act as advisors, guidance providers, and overall protectors of the family name. By this time a member should be involved in the family for more than 6 months and has been an active attendee in family events. For those who prefer fellowship over leadership this is the last stop on the family tree. Members must prove their leadership ability to progress to the Leadership ranks through the accumulation of both Valor Points (Earned through leading events.) as well as earning Tokens of Valor from lower ranked members of the family.

Foghladha Exploration Event Heads to Drizzlewood Coast

This month we will be spending time in the Icebrood Saga's Drizzlewood Coast experiencing this new form of zone event which is similar to WvW. This is a PvE version of WvW though it may be a good alternative to those who don't enjoy the PvP found in the borderlands. 

We will be visiting Drizzlewood Coast on:

• June 1st @ 6PM PT
• June 15th @ 6PM PT
• June 29th @ 6PM PT

If you would like to attend make sure to have the Drizlewood Coast unlocked before the event. It takes approx. 15-20 minutes to clear the first piece of the story. Come share in the fun!

Gaiscioch Enters Phase 2 of Season 3 Plan

This week the borderlands open and our friends in Defiance and Crusaders of Blood will be heading to the Borderlands. Osteria will open up for reclaiming and we will begin our campaign to own Nordtal and Fallenberg. We will likely be forming some new alliances with newfound friends to help secure the region from hostile invaders. 

The Plan:

• Gaiscioch: Mainstadt & Nordtal
• ArachDubh: Westweg

Once we have all 3 Fiefs we will continue upgrading Mainstadt, Westweg up as fast as we can while getting Nordtal to rank 6. We will focus our efforts on Westweg and Mainstadt first to get them both to rank 6. Then we will flip our attention to maintaining those two Fiefs while building up Nordtal.

We want to have all 4 Fiefs at level 6 so that we can get regular 5-star Fief quests. I would like to get all villages to rank 6 if possible to maximize output for all of our people but Nordtal will stay at rank 6. If we can get 5-star quests popping, we can often get random people doing our quests for us as well. Depending on how many resources we can generate each week we will look at either taking a 4th fief or pushing Mainstadt and Westweg to 7.

Gaiscioch Features Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation Adventures

After FFXIV gave away their starter edition for all PSN subscribers with a 30-day trial, we felt it was time to give what many claims is one of the Best MMORPGs on the market today a try. I've always wanted to give it a try and see how it plays, and now I have my shot.

We will be creating a Gaiscioch during the stream to show off the guild system and anyone will be welcome to join in the fun this month. FFXIV is crossplay supported so many of our PC friends can join us. We will be forming the linkshell up on Primal Data Center, Hyperian server.

Now sadly my involvement will only be for the month of June, but if things pick up and you all want to keep going I can pass the guild off to a trustworthy person to keep it open for you all.

I will be streaming FFXIV on Wednesdays at 3PM PT for the month of June. If you have a low-level character and want to join in the fun get in touch :).
