Macro How-To

(shamelessly stolen from Telarapedia as there were quite a few who could not find it, just posting here for easy access.)

A macro in the context of video games refers to a set of instructions that can be issued together with one input or "hotkey." Rift supports macroing via an in-game menu. Opening that menu brings up a panel with a list of macro slots on the left, and the macro fields on the right. It is also possible to open the macro menu by entering /macro in the chat. You can give your macro a name and select an icon for it. You can also have a macro inherit the icon and cooldown timer of some ability using the following syntax:

#show ability

e.g. #show Commander's Order will cause the macro to inherit the icon and ability icon of the skill called "Commander's Order"

The Nightmare

As the sound of lightning crackles in the near distance, Qai feels the tickle of electricity in the air. She sighs heavily as she watches the shadows dance across the cave's wall, hoping sleep would find her sooner than the storm arrives lest she finds no rest for the night. The stone hanging from her necklace begins to glow a dark red as her eyes grow heavy. Qai's last thought is of the bauble she is designing as she drifts into a deep slumber.

"Qai.. wake up." A rasping voice whispers in her ear. "Open your eyes!" Qai's eyes flutter open at the command. Darkness, a flash of a bloodied wall, darkness, a high pitch scream sounds from behind her, more darkness. Qai turns, rubbing at her eyes, calls out, "Who's there?" She stands, noticing a distant light, and moves toward it. Not walking, not running, simply moving. Another flash, this time of a face she can barely make out. The eyes seem to be sad, crying, the full lips placid, skin a waxy tan. The Dwarf reaches out to touch the face, somehow familiar, as a sadness washes over her...

Role Play, what does it mean?
As I travel the world of Telara I come across a variety of people, their personas, and there really are a lot of great people on this shard, Role Players or not. One common question I get from people who are new to Role Play is, "Qai, what does RP mean, and are there rules?" So aside from just pointing people to Google and wishing them luck, I thought I would share a little information with those who are curious but do not ask...
